Understanding country rates

Country rates can help you unlock domestic and international demand by offering great prices to travellers in countries you particularly want to target. You can boost your bookings by customising the discounts you offer to specific markets: the country where your property is located, other individual countries, entire regions or the whole world.

Adding country rates is a proactive step that you can take as part of your pricing strategy in order to increase your property’s occupancy. You’ll strengthen your pricing position by offering a discount only to potential guests in the countries where you need a boost. And if things change, you can manage your country rates at any time.

You can choose to offer any discount amount of 5% or above. We’ll only display this discount amount to people using our platform in the countries or regions you want to target. Country rates are active throughout the year, but you can also choose to block unlimited dates where the promotion won't apply.

Country rates apply to all your rooms and rate plans by default, but you can also choose to limit country rates to specific rate plans strategically. A country rate discount stacks with any Genius discounts you offer as well as basic deals, last-minute deal and early booker deal. However, country rates never stack with mobile rates, Getaway Deal, Early 2024 Deal, Late Escape Deal, Black Friday Deal and limited-time deal.

Please note that depending on the country your property is based in, this feature may not be available to you due to legal or commercial restrictions. We’re working to roll out country rates to all countries as soon as possible.

Activating country rates

Here’s how to set up country rates for your property:

1. Sign in to the extranet.
2. Click the Promotions menu.
3. Click Choose new promotion, then next to Country rate click Add promotion.
4. Under How much of a discount would you like to offer? enter your preferred discount amount.
5. Under Which countries would you like to target? select the countries or regions you want your country rate to apply to.
6. Under Customise your country rates, you can customise your country rate by limiting it to certain rate plans, length of stay or book windows.
7. Click Review and then, if everything looks right, click Activate.

Editing or deactivating country rates

You can always update the settings of your country rates or deactivate them so that potential guests no longer see them. Here’s how to pause or edit your country rates:

1. Sign in to the extranet.
2. Click the Promotions menu.
3. Click the country rate you want to edit or deactivate.
4. Click Edit or Deactivate.
5. If you clicked Edit, make your changes and then click on Review and then on Activate. If you clicked on Deactivate, click on Deactivate again to confirm.
