We have just got back from a very memorable day tour. If you know what you are getting yourself into then you can manage your expectations. It is a high volume tour and you are getting a taste of all the sites. If you want to take your time, relax, explore, then you are better off staying on Phil Phil island and doing short trips from there. Boat was good, plenty of refreshments, well looked after and with our tour guide ’Spicey’ we were well looked after and entertained. Pre-briefing was abut of an up-sell, didn’t really need shoes if you have sandals and flip flops ( key thing here is that you shouldn’t be standing on any corals in first place). Long boat is OK if you want it for 1600 baht, but clearly you can get on more than 4 pax - so bit of a rip off. We did it and saw a baby black tip shark, so worth it. Lunch was as expected for high volume tours, nothing special but adequate. Maya bay is clearly the highlight and is breathtaking and worth the long day on its own. Thanks again to Spicey and the crew for looking after us well.

You’re in Thailand. You will see amazing natural beauty on this tour. But after doing the James Bond Island tour with Amazing Canoeing, I definitely prefer that tour for many reasons. First, you will see more beautiful landscapes to and from James Bond Island. I was not impressed with the guides at Sea Angel. When we stopped, they took that as an opportunity to smoke instead of helping their group take amazing photos (unlike Amazing Canoeing, I might add). Their brochures mention what to bring. Nowhere does it mention water shoes, but they conveniently have cheap ones for sale at high prices and encourage you to buy them. They also try to upsell you on other desirable add ons. On the James Bond tour, there’s no need for adding extra activities because the trip is spectacular as is. The boat is much like most (but not all) the ones I saw on the tour. The windows are high up so you cannot see the beautiful scenery while seated. You’ll be seated a lot! I’m tall, and even if I stood up to look out or placed my knees on the seat, it was difficult to get a good view because of the metal bars. It is a silly tour boat design. Of course this was not an issue at Amazing Canoeing where we could see out of the boat in 3 directions.. The last stop was on a crowded, tawdry island that had the beach filled with beach chairs. That’s my idea of a personal hell. Again, if you take this tour you might not be disappointed. You will see natural beauty. But if you take the James Bond Island tour and then this one, you will almost certainly be disappointed.

Quite a stressful trip - from the busy dock (so many boats leave from the ‘private dock’ at once, to staff trying to upsell experiences and products (beach shoes) and busy islands with barely any time to enjoy each. However, our tour guide was great - Dee Dee had good humour, energy and took photos for us. They made the trip enjoyable. Without them, I don’t think we would have enjoyed the day so much. Thank you Dee Dee x I would advise avoiding the trips being sold at the dock and don’t be pressured to buy from the shop in the dock - there is a 7 Eleven on Phi Phi which is not too expensive (on the contrary to what the reps told us).
