Having just travelled from Seville, we expected the Alcazar to be more like the one there but it is really only the remains and some mosaics on the walls. The gardens are lovely though with tiered pools and fountains, nice planting and shady areas. We bought our tickets online beforehand to guarantee we could visit at a time that suited so would recommend doing that. Also allow plenty of time when you arrive as queues can be long and they won't let you in if you are late even if you have been queuing to get in. Our ticket also included the baths a short distance away but even though we arrived within opening hours, they were closed so we had to buy another ticket for that the next day.

If you’ve seen the Alcazar in Sevilla, you might wanna miss this one! It was very disappointing compared to the one in Sevilla, you only visit like 3 rooms inside the Alcazar everything else was cordoned off. The Gardens were very pretty and nice, however nothing compares to the gardens in Sevilla. If you haven’t been to the one in Sevilla, go ahead and visit this!

The gardens were our favorite. We are a family with 2 children (8,11) who both liked frolicking in the garden. The tower is also fun to climb and look out over the town. The inside of the building is a bit boring, but is good for the gardens.

The gardens here are amazing! I stayed here longer than I should have. There was a horse show going on when I was there so was able to watch it too. Wish there were more flowers but I totally get it - it was fall. Will come back on springtime probably. The first part with ruins is so cool. Didn’t expect that. Kinda feels like I’m in Pompeii or somewhere similar. Definitely a must-see

It was a tremendous visit to such an historic and enthralling bastion fortress. A primary residence of Ferdinand and Isabella it was established on a site that had antecedent defensive fortifications. Some great towers plus turrets can be seen. A fabulous selection of mosaics are present including those depicting Eros y Psique, Medusa and Polifemo y Galatea. Delightful gardens with charming water features containing fish and luscious flora are further splendid highlights.

This place was huge and we easily spent over 2 hrs here. Beautiful even in the winter time that I can't imagine in the summer. The gardens are beautiful and the alcazar as well. It was one of the more busier places we visited during our trip. Must get tickets in advance. And it was cheap too.

After visiting the Alcaza rin Sevilla and the Alhambra in Granada, this palace looks like an unfinished place!. The mosaics room was beautiful, but not much else is demonstrative of the kings life here. The gardens are beautiful and a smaller version of the Generalife.

Agreed with previous reviewer, no need to buy ticket in advance. If you are doing tower in Mezquita, forget about the tower here. The main draw here is the gardens. The castle itself has nothing much apart for the mosaics. But the gardens more than make up for it. Beautifully laid out with lots of photo opportunities and some benches to rest and take it all in.

Very historic and enjoyable, but not as impressive as other alcazars in Spain. We enjoyed our visit and the gardens and mosaic rooms were a major highlight. We did not buy tickets ahead and waited in line for about 20 minutes, but were able to buy tickets and enter right away. There was a long line to get up into the towers, but it moved fairly quickly.

Wasn’t impressed with this site. Also went to the mezquita which was SO beautiful. There isn’t much to see here, and no signage to tell you what you are looking at. If you are already in cordoba it does fill the time but if you are pressed for time skip it.
