1. The location is stellar
2. The rooms are spacious and quiet
3. The service is exemplary
4. The recommendations regarding where to dine were spot on
I’d like to draw specific attention to an incident that occurred my last morning. I had mis-remember some details about my departure and needed to leave a couple hours earlier than I had expected. I had sent out to have my clothes cleaned the night before and was worried that they might not make it back to the hotel in time. The folks working the desk made a special trip to the laundry service to hand deliver my clothes.
Highly recommended.
One point to be aware of: If you end up taking the bus to get to the hotel, there isn’t good signage. Look for the signs for the Pension el Portillo which will get you on the right street and then keep going.

My only regret is that we didn’t get to spend longer in the room - there is so much to see in Cordoba that one night at Hotel Madinat wasn’t long enough !
The rooms were clean, the bed was very comfortable.
We were welcomed with juice and sweets and the staff provided a detailed explanation on major sights, including info about opening hours. They also recommended several restaurants in the area.
The hotel is located in a beautiful area of the old town, within walking distance to all the major sites.
Breakfast is delicious, there are lots of choices. Great coffee and juices, fruit. You can order eggs as you like them.
This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The combination of location, decor, friendly, helpful staff and excellent food make it just perfect!

Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and appreciated the assistance in booking a restaurant. However, the positives ended there. Our room, though clean, fell short in several aspects. The noise from other guests was disruptive, and the gaps around the door only exacerbated the issue.
The bed, advertised as a double, was a disappointment considering the premium we paid. We expected a king-size bed for the price. Additionally, the room fittings appeared to be of poor quality, with an over-reliance on IKEA products. The shower experience was particularly frustrating, requiring a delicate balance of hot and cold taps to achieve the desired temperature.
On a brighter note, the AC provided relief from the heat and operated quietly.
In conclusion, while Hotel Madinat may offer convenience in terms of location, the overall value proposition leaves much to be desired. For the same price, guests can likely find better quality accommodations outside the city center and use the savings to cover transportation costs.
I would recommend this hotel to anybody and am sad that I can't stay longer!

The hotel is situated in the heart of the old town and is a converted traditional mansion house with a central patio. Many of the original features remain.
We were welcomed by Paloma, who gave us an overview of the facilities and local area. All of the reception staff were extremely helpful.
Our room was situated on the first floor at the front of the building. The room was immaculate and had been well prepared before our arrival. The large bed was extremely comfortable and the bed linen was changed daily. The main feature of the room was a large tiled bath, which also contained a shower unit. We made good use of this facility.
One observation regarding the room would be that there was nowhere to store our clothes, other than half a dozen hangers for shirts, jackets etc. As we were staying for an extended period, we found ourselves literally living out of our suit cases for the whole period.
We made use of the roof terrace on several occasions. The view across the old part of the city was amazing.
Breakfast was served in a small dining area, which when busy was a bit tight for room. The food service area in particular we found rather cramped at times. The breakfast offerings were typical of the area and generally good.
Overall, we found this hotel to be of a good standard. Well situated and within easy reach of the main attractions in the old town.
However, we paid a premium price for our room and for the facilities available, I felt the hotel was somewhat over priced for what was on offer.
"Didn't even think about driving yourself to the hotel in these narrowest of streets. Instead, the taxi from the train station, was one of the highlights! "Read full review
"Taxi to the Arc de Portillo is the closest drop-off, leaving a short walk through the historical quarter to the hotel. "Read full review
