This hotel is fantastic!

The staff are accommodating, thoughtful and genuinely lovely. The hotel itself has a really relaxed and trendy atmosphere. It's only small and perfectly located just off La Rambla. The bedrooms are modern and trendy with a huge bed and double power shower. The toiletries smell lovely and the hotel was spotless!

Breakfast is expensive at €12 pp per day but there is a nice selection and I was surprised to see soya milk and oat milk provided. I usually struggle with this abroad and it's indicative of the thoughtful staff.

We stayed for three nights and didn't go to the bar downstairs however I can imagine this would be great too. We were on the fourth floor and heard no noise from the bar and slept really well.

The only improvement would be tea and coffee facilities in the room just to have a brew in bed :)

Thank you to all the staff for a fabulous, truly memorable stay. Wishing Catalonia all the very best.

My partner and I stayed in the Niu Barcelona during a 4 night stay in the city in mid July.

The hotel appears to be fairly new. I'm not sure of the exact opening date but it can't be more than a year or so old. As a result, everything is very clean and everything works as expected.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We arrived a few hours early on our first day, and were allowed to check in slightly earlier than the advertised time, which was much appreciated after a long journey.

The room itself was clean, with comfortable beds, a flatscreen TV, a table and a nice bathroom with a large walk in shower.

One of the best parts of the room was the air-conditioning system. Going back to my previous statement that everything is fairly new and works as it should, this air conditioning was a godsend, especially in the high 20-low 30 degree heat of Barcelona in the middle of July. After a day of exploring, it was great to be able to come back to a nice chilled room before heading out again at night.

The location of the hotel is fantastic. You are within 10 minutes of La Rambla and the Gothic Quarter, but the area the hotel is in (El Raval) is great for bars and restaurants too. The doors of the hotel open out on to Rambla del Raval, which is home to many bars, shops and places to eat. A short stroll along Career de l'Hospital will take you right on to La Rambla, whereas heading north toward Carrer del Carme and beyond will take you up towards the University and more great places to eat and drink.

The hotel has its own restaurant and bar, as well as a downstairs club. As we were only in Barcelona for 4 nights with a relatively full itinerary, we didn't have a chance to sample it ourselves, but the food looked very nice, and we were never disturbed at night by noise from the nightclub. Another feature that we did not get the chance to use was the rooftop pool. Maybe next time...

If you are planning a trip to Barcelona soon, I would recommend the Niu Barcelona. Clean, comfortable, great location for tourist spots, and interesting immediate surroundings.

I stayed here for 3 nights, and loved the location and the vibe of the hotel.
The rooms were lovely and modern, with an amazing waterfall shower.
The rooftop pool and terrace was an added bonus, as was the funky bar in the basement with live music.
There's also a great bar next door too which had live flamenco one evening.
Really loved my stay and the warm welcome from staff.

Had a couple of last minute changes (break up) so ended up turning up alone. While this was stated when I checked in clearly this wasn't specified in the system as for whatever reason the night time desk clerk (Marco I believe) kept saying I had booked a room for one.. without giving me any chance to explain. Full details below but if you happen to be neurodivergent/on the spectrum AND a person of colour DO NOT STAY HERE unless you enjoy racist comments or condenscending comments about your intelligence (which he then justified with "Oh but I am italian" (lol?). Never in my life have I experienced anyone this confrontational in a service position as he seemed to take a massive issue with me. Even tried a damage control email suggesting I was being rude to him but I'm guessing he's hoping the video surveillance footage from the conversation that was had at reception will be scratched because the guy was erratic, rude, condescending and generally incredibly agitated despite my apologies or attempts to deescalate. Never gave any chance to explain the situation and when he eventually acknowledged that I had booked a room for two his excuse was "How was I supposed to know"... well if instead of being argumentative from the start you'd been cordial and looked for a solution rather than insulting my intelligence or threatening to call police (again, lol?) perhaps the solution would have been easier to reach.

Don't get me wrong, with the last minute change of plans the stay wasn't going to go as expected for me so I ended up letting to friends have the room for the night since they clearly were going to benefit from it more than me and well, I'd paid for it. As I came back after a night out to gather my stuff and leave them to it I'm informed it was too loud by the staff member who off the bat was being incredibly confrontational, so I decide to gather my things and head downstairs. The Italian night receptionist was combative from the start and despite my apoligies and efforts to deescalate categorically refused to listen to any explanation. Rather than say anything in a professional manner he threatened to call police (lol?) and went on to continuously berate me as though I had personally offended him for some reason, he was totally insensed. He shouted that the two guests (now sleeping) had to be signed in so while waiting for them to come downstairs decides to insult my intelligence based of race/nationality (again, this is a first) and justified it by saying it was "because he is italian"??? The worst is when my (white) guests arrive his demeanour switches up and he's suddenly polite and helpful to them..

To put it into context, i'd booked to stay with a girlfriend and ended up alone due to break up the previous day. Instead two of my friends hit it off and since the room was non refundable, I figured they may as well make the most of it. If he'd been able to communicate without immediately accusing me of having booked a room for one and lying about that (I'd booked a room for two with my gf..) or even tried to deescalate and presented the registration of guests in a polite way perhaps it could have been ok. As it stands I got far less threats, insults or bullying from any of the locals of Raval (supposedly shady neighbourhood) than I did from this guy.

A very nice hotel in not a very beautiful area. Not too far from Ramblas and close to metro stations to comfortably get around the city. The hotel staff was great - very friendly and super helpful. Good breakfast, clean and modern rooms. A very good price quality ratio.

We stayed three nights at the Niu Hotel in Raval. The room was clean, spacious and the bed was really comfy. Staff were lovely and breakfast was good. We could walk to La Ramblas easily (only a few streets away) and enjoyed a nightcap in the bar across the square. Something to remember is that Raval is not the best of areas in Barcelona so you must always remain aware of your surroundings and keep an eye on your phones(never leave on the table for eg) and handbags. We were approached by beggars a few times and could hear arguing from the square directly across the road from our window. Having said that we had no real problems at all.

I stayed with my daughter for 4 nights at hotel Niu. Staff were fantastic, rooms were clean and comfortable and I loved the pillow spray and ear plugs (not that they were needed) breakfast was tasty and the rooftop pool was peaceful. Location was great for getting around. Walked to most places and the couple of times we used the metro it was only a 7 minute walk from our hotel. Highly recommend.

From the moment I walked into the Niu Barcelona I was blown away. The hotel is in a fantastic location. 6-7 minute walk to La Rambla and lots of bars shops and restaurants around the hotel. We did not choose to have the breakfast included however it looked like a good display. Fresh fruit, pastries, meats and cheeses as well as fresh juices. The hotel was spotless clean. Had a fantastic smell to the room and the amenities provided were to a very high standard. The staff were very friendly and informative and I felt like they genuinely cared. We visited the rooftop pool however it was drained in December however I can imagine in the summer months this would be a great touch! We will be visiting again!

Taxi about €30-35. However airport bus is €6.20 which goes into the centre of Barcelona, Catalunya Square If you know where you are going it is approximately 15 mins walk down La Ramblas turning right a short walk past the market.

Do you have American plugs available in the rooms?

Generally all Spanish hotels have standard two pin European electrical sockets. I am unfamiliar with design and wattage of US electrical sockets and would therefore suggest taking a European adapter with you to use on any US electrical appliances, which is what I do. You can generally buy these from most international airports.

What is the best way to get to this hotel from Barcelona airport?
Answer from naglaa s
Cairo, Egypt
Hi dear Gemma, There are several ways to get the hotel from the airport: TAXI. About 40€ and 30 minutes. If you want, we can book a private transfer for you. The driver will wait for you in arrivals of the airport showing a sign with your names. From another side, there is a special bus, service every 10 minutes, it does not work during night. Round trip ticket 10,20€ by person. It stops in Plaza Catalunya, about 500 meters from our doors, most of the way for a narrow street not very comfortable to walk with luggage, so you can take a taxi in Plaza Catalunya, about 6€. TRAIN and METRO. There is a train (R2) every 30 minutes from terminal 2 to main train station. Once you are there, you can take the metro, green line, L3, until Drassanes and walk 250 meters. Metro ticket, 2’20€ one trip. About 50 minutes. METRO. L9 Sud (orange) to ZONA Universitaria. Once there, Green line (L3) to Drassanes and walk 250 meters. There is a metro stop in each terminal (A1 in T1, A2 in T2) Special price for metro from the Airport, 4,60€ by person and trip. About 50 minutes. Hope that helps you. Naglaa
