Write a reviewThe hotel is in a terrible area, with lots of crime on surrounding streets. The hotel has no security and doors are left open. Our luggage was stolen from the hotel lobby as we checked-in and no one cared! We were offered no compensation – and not even a glass of water during this terrible ordeal!
Staff admit that they are scared of thieves entering the hotel lobby! DO NOT STAY HERE.
Strangely, no one is allowed to contact the hotel owner (who apparently lives in Dubai) – they need to know what is happening and this needs to stop!
Further bad news – we had cockroaches invading our room during our terrible stay! (pictures to be uploaded soon)
The very worst experience!

The room was nice. When we arrived there was a sock on the fire allarm on the ceiling. It dissapered after a few days. The walls were thin, you could hear everything from the hallway. The people next to us kept slaming the doors between 12 and 3 in the morning which was sooo annoying. The neighborhood was sketchy, didn't feel safe, especially at night. The worst part of our stay there was the fact that my tank top went missing from my room! It was on my luggage when we went out and gone when we came back. So dissapointing. The staff said they looked after it and did not find it but it is suspicious if they didn't take it on purpose. Also there were flies in the room that were so hard to catch and kill. I don't recommend this hotel at all!

No room service, no guests allowed, staff is rude, they don’t actually have a pool. Total scam - a bunch of clean ikea furniture with no appliances, toiletries, or substantial tissues/ towels. Location is also in the ghetto, you cannot walk across the street at night without getting shouted at by gangs.

Stayed here for 4 nights and found the hotel to be new and modern. In a really good location - just a short walk away from all the main streets and shops and metro stops. Rooms were clean and light and had a safe in the room free of charge. Included towels and hair dryer as well as shampoo etc. Reception staff were very friendly and spoke good English. Didn't have breakfast as could find this cheaper in shops nearby. Would recommend this hotel and definitely return.

This was one of the best hotel experiences my girlfriend and I have ever had! We were at Hotel Niu Barcelona for three weeks and took the time to get to know the staff and the area. Deborah, Alejandra, Jave, and Marco were really wonderful and hospitable. Our room was great, always clean, and the balcony gave us a homey view of the Rambla de Raval. We were also lucky enough to be there during the La Marcé festival! I can’t say enough good things about it! It’s unfortunate that people have left bad reviews. If you know Barcelona, you would know that it’s a late night city, dinner is usually around 20:00 or 21:00, not 17:00 . . . And the neighborhood was safe, we even got to know some of the local grocers and restauranteurs. The negative reviews are not warranted, stay at Hotel Niu and enjoy being a traveler in Barcelona, not a tourist.
