One of the biggest ‘turn offs’ for a candidate After being offered a job Is when it takes half a century to send the contract out!! Employers don’t seem to realise how damaging this can be It’s usually nothing more than a slow internal process 🐢 Sometimes they actually need to get sign off 🙄 But either way, it’s not a good look Especially if the candidate has to chase you multiple times! I’ve placed candidates with my clients after they got sick and tired of waiting for a contract from elsewhere!!! What it says to the candidate is either “We’re not excited enough about you joining to BOTHER getting the contract in front of you any time soon” OR “We have painfully SLOW internal processes that you can enjoy once you work here” My advice to employers: Make your hiring and offer processes slick as f¥ck You’ll attract the people you want 🧲 And they’ll think they’re joining a company who really has their sh!t together 😎 And they’d be right!!
An offer means absolutely zero. A signed contract means slightly more but isn't a guarantee. Roles get pulled right up to the last minute so do yourself a favour, keep looking for work until you've logged-on with your first brew of the day in hand.
Funny reading external recruiters wag their collective finger. To them I say "Sorry but you knew your client was slow as sh!t with offer letters and you didn't prep your candidates accordingly?" Kinda part of the gig, no? Or maybe .... it's an opportunity for you to effect change?
Legally in Ireland once a job is offered , a company have 5 days, not working days, 5 days to send a contract or alternatively a letter of appointment...FYI

Momentum is key in a process. A 2 week wait for a contract kills any momentum, gets the incoming candidate second-guessing their decision and delays any potential start date!
As a recruiter, if a candidate that we're working with has been waiting for a contract for more than a day or two from another company, I'm having an absolute field day...
Oh my days, this can make or break the deal 🤦🏻♀️ it needs to be a slick and process from start to finish…..no excuses 🪄
Ollie Totally agree, the joke sometimes is they are all over the candidate to do the interview and then when they get them they take for ever to get the offer out, the momentum then starts to wain.
Any delay whether it is feedback for interview, application or onboarding rings alarm bells.

8mothis gets covered off at the briefing though right? "Let's walk through your timeline. Start by telling me how long once you've decided to make an offer it takes to get your paperwork out." Otherwise, you can't define the target start date and without a TSD you can't run an effective search.
