Ghosting candidates can also discourage potential candidates from applying in the future and can make it challenging to attract top talent.
In both internal and external recruitment scenarios, ghosting is highly unprofessional and disrespectful. It demonstrates a lack of communication skills, empathy, and consideration for the time and effort invested by all parties involved. It can create a negative perception of the organisation, both among current employees and within the industry.
To mitigate the negative impact of ghosting in recruitment, it is crucial for organisations to prioritise effective communication throughout the hiring process. Clear and timely communication with candidates, whether it is to provide updates, share feedback, or deliver rejection notifications, is essential.
