This morning I was greeted by a blast from the past; pictures from the first sales president's club of my career in 2015. This picture is of my Grand Diamond (PClub qualifying) award earned on 9-5-14. To commemorate the decade, I'd like to share ten pieces of general sales advice that I've been gifted by wiser minds throughout these years. The below are in no particular order. 1.) Mistakes will provide the best growth and learning opportunities. 2.) Every "no" is one step closer to your next "yes". 3.) Take ownership of your role and treat it like your own business. 4.) Complaining and selling do not co-exist. 5.) A lie might close the deal but it won't keep the business. 6.) Don't internalize rejection. It is business; not personal. 7.) Don't sell anything you don't believe in. 8.) A sales script gives you the basics but won't think critically for you. 9.) What you can control in sales is your activity level and attitude. 10.) You need to understand the problem to position the solution. Note: GD = Grand Diamond Award

What are some valuable follow-up strategies for sales reps once you've sent all the info and the ball is in their court, but you haven't heard from the prospect in a while Here are some things I do within a follow-up note: - Try to always include a personal anecdote from previous conversations. - Send a link when a team member, company or product are mentioned in the media. - Include a Case Study that makes sense. - Share the most relevant industry news.

Whenever we share with manufacturing leaders that the U.S. manufacturing workforce will grow by 0.31% between 2022-2030, we often hear this answer: "We’ll raise their compensation.” I’m here to tell you that’s not going to get it done. What will happen is manufacturers will create bidding wars for employees. All companies will have a revolving-door environment. There is one way to tackle this issue, and that is to focus on your culture. Develop an environment where employees wouldn’t consider leaving for another company. This entails developing them, giving them opportunities to grow, listening, and dealing with unpleasant co-workers. Breaking News this week: Non-Compete Agreements Obsolete After FTC Ruling. Who has toiled or dealt with restrictive non-compete clauses in your employment contracts? Who has wanted to hire someone but could not due to a non-compete? Thanks to the recent FTC ruling, non-compete agreements are now a thing of the past.
