‼️Over 115 people attended the Mega Intern and Young Professional networking and social event at the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum Association last night! It was great to see the museum full of young (and young at heart!) people engaging with each other and learning about various organizations and types of workforce needs in southern MD. (At least 30 stayed beyond 7pm! Always a good sign when people linger after an event is over!) Attendees made many new connections, participated in a scavenger hunt, and a handful won door prizes. St. Mary's County is proud to be a partner and the host location for the RoboNation Student Unmanned Aerial Systems competition! The international competition brings students together from around the world and is designed to foster interest in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), stimulate interest in UAS technologies and careers, and to engage students in a challenging mission.

We're getting ready for takeoff this morning 🛫 here in St. Mary's County Maryland! The SUAS Competition is an annual event aimed at promoting unmanned aerial systems (UAS) technologies and careers. It provides students with a platform to develop and showcase their skills in designing, building, and operating unmanned aerial systems. The competition has been held annually since 2002 and continues to inspire students in the field of UAS. This morning we joined NavalX Southern Maryland Tech Bridge for a hybrid in-person and remote SBIR/STTR Open Topic AMA event. The group at TechPort in St. Mary’s County were joined by others on-site in Austin, TX at NavalX Tech Hub at Austin Capital Factory and over 100 others virtually.

Today we helped celebrate the groundbreaking of Pax River Village Center with Atlantic Realty Companies, Inc. Atlantic Realty’s project development & construction partners were joined by St. Mary's County Government Commissioner Scott Ostrow, Deputy County Administrator David Yingling, and many other entities from across the community to help commemorate the first step of a mult-phase redevelopment of the Lexington Park center. Thank you to the entire Atlantic Realty team for your dedication to engaging & supporting the community and congratulations on your ground breaking!

The St. Mary’s Young Professionals (SMYP) brought together nearly 70 people last night for a relaxing evening along the water that included 2 sunset cruises with Captain Phil from Fish the Bay Charters, backyard games, networking, and great food from St. James Deli! Thanks to everyone who came out and enjoyed the great weather, and a special thanks to Captain Phil Langley for the tranquil boat cruises and for sharing his vast knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay!

On this day in 1999, our warfare center cut the ribbon to officially open the Advanced Systems Integration Laboratory, home to the chamber dedicated to radio frequency testing on air and other defense systems. This chamber is where #Navy engineers study electromagnetic interference and other signals impacts on aircraft and systems including Next Generation Jammer, F-35 Block 3F and 4, P-8A, Triton, and so many more! Yesterday staff from St. Mary's County Department of Economic Development helped The Good Earth in Leonardtown celebrate 25 years! St. Mary's County Government County Administrator, David Weiskopf; Leonardtown Mayor, Dan Burris & Town Administrator, Laschelle McKay; and Maryland Department of Commerce Southern Maryland representative, Steve Wall all presented proclamations to owner Val Deptula recognizing their 25 years in operation. The Good Earth serves as an important and trusted resource within the community and continues to contribute to Leonardtown’s success. Congratulations to Val and her dedicated team!
