The US Navy and United States Marine Corps Small Tactical Unmanned Air Systems program office with #NAWCAD's Air Test and Evaluation Squadron TWO FOUR (UX-24) showcased its group 1 UAS technology during a demo day April 30 at Webster Outlying Field in St. Inigoes, Maryland. They flew multiple small unmanned systems highlighting the capabilities they bring to the individual Marine level to enhance battlespace awareness.

Not only are the “Night Owls” building the future of unmanned training and maintenance at VMUT-2 in Cherry Point, they have also greatly contributed to bringing small UAS to the Wing - filling a tactical gap in Distributed Aviation Operations. I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as the Lead Test Engineer for the Unmanned. Autonomy. Robotics. Technology. (UART) Team at Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD)!

Check out flight test footage from the United States Marine Corps' recent XQ-58 Valkyrie flight test. This was the second successful flight of the unmanned system with upgrades integrated by #NAWCAD's AIRWorks team. The XQ-58A has a total of six planned test flights used to evaluate the effectiveness of autonomous electronic support to crewed platforms like the USMC F-35B Lightning II and the potential for AI-enabled platforms to augment combat air patrols.

Because UX-24 is a relatively new squadron I’m often told people don’t know much about us or I get asked what exactly we do. Well, we do a lot of different things. Yesterday we flew a MQ-8C Fire Scout (Group 4 - rotary wing, vertical takeoff and landing), a MQ-9A Reaper (Group 5 - fixed wing, conventional takeoff and landing, a RQ-21A Blackjack (Group 3 - fixed wing, catapult launch and vertical arresting cable, wingtip hook recovery), and multiple small UAS. At the same time. Awesome, right? #GoGhostWolves

The #USNavy’s first MQ-25 Stingray test aircraft is complete. Boeing unveiled the MQ-25 at its St. Louis, Missouri facility Feb. 8 where it is undergoing prep for installation of instrumentation and test equipment. Over the next few months, the team will begin testing the structural integrity of the unmanned refueler to ensure it will safely and effectively operate within the carrier environment. When operational, MQ-25 will extend the range, operational #Capability, and #Lethality of the carrier air wing.
