A Place in the Sun turned emotional as presenter Ben Hillman showed Mark and Candy around potential homes in Spain.

The couple, who had a a £77,000 budget, were on the hunt for a three-bedroom property with traditional charm. Mark's background in construction meant they were open to undertaking some renovations, as they explained to the Channel 4 favourite.

But it seemed Ben may have misjudged just how much of a fixer-upper the pair were looking for. Candy's disappointment was palpable as they toured the second property, leading her to admit, "I'm just not feeling this at all."

Ben, taken aback, responded, "I understood you incorrectly. I know you said a project is fine and the fact you are a builder as well. Have I run away with that? ", reports the Express.

Candy conceded that perhaps they hadn't been clear enough, expressing her concerns: "I'm finding that a little bit more daunting, the level of renovations so maybe we've not made it entirely clear? ".

She clarified to Ben that while they were willing to renovate a room or two, the extensive work required by the house was overwhelming.

As Candy became visibly emotional, Ben probed further, asking, "It's not what you're imagining, not what you're hoping for. This is a project too far, is it? She replied: ".

She responded: "It is, I'm sorry."
