One 90s heartthrob, now 63-years-old, is getting his kit off for a cheeky nude scene.

Over 30 years after he first became a household name as a Hollywood heartthrob, David Duchovny is stripping off for his new film Reverse the Curse. Duchovny has written and directed the film himself and it is currently streaming on Amazon Prime.

During an interview with Salon, the former X Files actor opened up about his methods and how he braves ditching his kit for a role. He explained: “You can turn it into humour. You can look at horrific things with a sense of humour and the humour comes from the fact that it’s going to happen to all of us. It’s not like some people age and some people don’t, some people die and some people don’t.”

In the film, David’s nude scene sees him in a locker room with his silver screen son, played by Logan Marshall-Green. As he leans in to embrace his offspring, he cheekily quips: “That’s a perfectly respectable pr*** you’ve got there, son.”

“If I’ve got one of my main characters - me - showing his naked body to his son and saying: ‘It looks like a dead sparrow where my c*** should be,’ I find that funny. I think we can laugh at that and then hug it out. He comments on his son’s penis in a way that’s funny. I laughing and I’m also moved, in a way.”

In his new project, Duchovny plays a Red Sox fan whose health deteriorates after his favourite sports team suffers a loss. His son returns home to take care of him and hatches a plan to create a fake winning streak.

David is best known for his roles in Twin Peaks and The X-Files alongside Gillian Anderson. Elsewhere in the interview, David touched upon what has kept the shows such cult classics over the years.

“In the case of Twin Peaks, you have just a really singular artist behind it all with a vision that is unique. You can probably watch a minute of film and you’d go: ‘That’s got to be David Lynch.’”

On The X-Files, Duchovny explained: “I think Chris Carter just came up with an amazing frame, an amazing precedent of a show that could just spark off in so many different directions and spoke to a sense of wonder but also a sense of foreboding.”
