Photos show the inside of a £40-a-night cottage in Tenerife where Jay Slater was last seen - while a mysterious review has also been left by a holidaymaker.

The 19-year-old went missing on June 17 after travelling from a rave to the remote Airbnb in the mountains with two men.

Jay, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire had posted a snapchat video of himself at the Casa Abuela Tina, near the village of Masca, shortly before making his last phone call to a pal before he disappeared.

He is said to have told friend Lucy Law Mae he was planning to make the 11-hour walk back to their apartment in the popular resort of Los Cristianos with only 1% battery left on his phone and no water.

Spanish police have now said the family can use their own search-and-rescue teams to try and find the lad after failing to locate him after he vanished three weeks ago.

Photos of the cottage have been found on an online listing showing the bedrooms and living spaces in the modest property. And a vague one-worded review has also recently been left for the two-bedroom cottage on Booking.com.

Left by someone with the username Fidel, the review was left on June 29 and gave the holiday-let a top score of ten - with the writer simply adding: “Exceptional."

The cottage is available for just £40 per night

The only information on the review is that the user is from Spain, was travelling alone and stayed at the cottage for four nights in June this year.

A description of the property on the website reads: “Situated in Buenavista del Norte, 21 km from Los Gigantes and 34 km from Aqualand, Casa Abuela Tina en Masca provides accommodation with amenities such as free WiFi and a flat-screen TV.

“The property is around 36 km from Golf Las Americas, 37 km from Siam Park and 38 km from Piramide de Arona Convention Centre. The property is non-smoking and is located 49 km from Golf del Sur.

“The holiday home features 2 bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with kitchenware, a washing machine, and 2 bathrooms with a hair dryer.

“Taoro Park is 46 km from Casa Abuela Tina en Masca, while Plaza Charco is 46 km from the property. The nearest airport is Tenerife South Airport, 52 km from the accommodation.”

Police have already spoken to the two men Jay was with at the cottage in the hours before his disappearance.

One was Ayub Abdul, who is also known as Ayub Qassim, who told Mail Online: "He came to my Airbnb alive and he left my Airbnb alive. "I let the geezer stay at mine because he had nowhere else to go, his friends had all left him.

"I know Jay, through friends, I'm not going to bring someone back to mine if I don't know them. I'm doing the geezer a favour and now my face is all over the news. It's a bit mental. I haven't even done anything."

Qassim, also known as 'Johnny Vegas' according to investigator Mark Williams-Thomas, currently resides in Barking, East London, and was sentenced for nine years and nine months back in 2015 for selling Class A drugs.

The remote-ness of the cottage means there are only two restaurants within reasonable walking distance, and one bus stop with services running between every hour and hour and a half.

The owner of the cottage claimed he saw Jay walking uphill into the mountains.

Another witness claims they spoke to Jay at around 7.30am on the morning he vanished, alleging the teen asked him what time the next bus arrived.
