Love Island has been rocked by another explosive exit.

According to The Sun, one star has reportedly quit the ITV show after their other half got the axe in a shock dumping. It is understood that the Islander decided to prove their commitment to their partner and pack their bags alongside them.

It is thought even ITV bosses were stunned by their surprising decision to call time on the reality show. Their exit has not yet aired and the person who's quit is not being named, although the jaw-dropping scenes will play out when the show returns to ITV2 and ITVX.

A source told the publication: "The villa is so full that people are sleeping on the day beds. So producers decided it was a good idea to trim the fat and called another dumping soon after Movie Night.

"What they were not expecting was the partner of the individual axed wanting to leave." Daily Star has contacted an ITV spokesperson for a comment.

As fans will know, very few Islanders are loyal enough to quit the show when their partner is dumped. Frequently, newly single stars will remain on the show and couple up with other stars on the program.

Former stars who have unexpectedly left the show include Jacques O'Neill, Jake Cornish and Georgia Steel who all opted to go home early. Their exit follows Trey Norman and Ellie Jackson who left the villa following the explosive Movie Night challenge.

Once again, Movie Night ended in tears after cast members' antics were exposed on the big screen to the entire villa. After getting dressed up and grabbing some popcorn, the stars sat down and watched some of their most incriminating moments across the series so far.

It certainly left Uma Jammeh and Wil Anderson's relationship hanging by a thread, and Grace Jackson and Joey Essex got into a heated argument as she yelled at home: "Bore off, man!" Tensions continued to heighten as Jess White told Ayo Odukoya that she didn't feel like he was "being very compassionate" as Mimii Ngulube reminded him "it's not about the initial attraction, it's about respect."

The island soon spiralled into chaos when truths came to light in the tell-all "films" including The Mat-Hil-Da's Have Eyes, Wild Wil West, and Es-Sex and the City.

However, the end of the night proved to be the most brutal - with the Critics Choice being announced as one couple were sent packing. Trey and Ellie were dumped from the villa as their co-stars reeled from the news.

Trey entered the show on day 23 as a bombshell, where he coupled up with Jess shortly before the girls were sent off to Casa Amor. Ellie has only been on the show for six days, after she earned her spot in the main villa when she recoupled with Trey during Casa Amor.

Fans will have to stay tuned to see with Islander will walk out of the villa and follow the person of their dreams. Love Island airs every day on ITV2 or catch up on ITVX.
