Why Do Businesses Need an SMM Strategy? Explained by Anna Levytska, SMM Lead. An SMM strategy is a comprehensive action plan for social media that defines promotion channels and methods, target audiences, Tone of Voice, content types, and success metrics. It helps achieve company goals, which may include increasing brand awareness, attracting new leads, boosting sales, building a loyal community, and creating brand advocates, among others. So, if you feel that your business pages on social media aren’t delivering the desired results, it’s time to focus on an SMM strategy.

🇺🇸🤝🇺🇦 Hello from the United States! It's Khrystyna Vozniak, English Editor at Truman. My Ukrainian heritage has always been a defining aspect of my identity, no matter where I've lived. I moved to the U.S. at 17 to play on a Division I college team. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a focus on marketing from Mississippi State University and an MBA from The University of Tulsa. After my studies, I dreamed of starting a professional tennis career. However, everything changed with a call from my mom about the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. I decided to pause my sports career and started looking for work in Ukraine, as I wanted to help my people. Now, I've been at Truman for 1.5 years — from writing English tweets about the confiscation of Russian assets to editing articles for Economic Security Council of Ukraine. Every project I'm involved in is aimed at protecting my native country, its culture, and identity. The realization that even my smallest contribution can impact the course of history brings peace amid chaos. Thanks to a flexible work schedule at Truman, I've also managed to return to competitive sports. Winning a 15K doubles title and earning my first WTA singles points have inspired me to aim higher. Today, I proudly represent Ukraine, both in my work and on the court. #TrumanPeople

"Accessible communication is about paying attention and showing respect to all readers. It involves using the correct pronouns for the characters in our content, discussing disability without dramatization, and implementing inclusive fonts on websites. These are just a few of the essential points that those involved in communication need to know to make their content accessible to everyone", explains Mariia Bania, communications manager for the STEM IS FEM, in her column for Wonderzine Ukraine. Mariia outlined the criteria for accessible communications: ▪️Make materials accessible to people with visual, auditory, and speech impairments. ▪️Be mindful of gender — your audience may include men, women, and non-binary individuals. ▪️Ensure that the content is understandable to people of various ages, especially if you are targeting a broad audience. ▪️Use terminology that neither underrepresents nor exaggerates the life experiences of people from different educational and social backgrounds. ▪️Provide content in English if your goal is to engage an international audience. Truman proudly partners with STEM is FEM in their communication efforts. For more on gender-sensitive language and how to write about and for people with disabilities, read Mariia's column via the link in the comments below ⬇️ #TrumanPeople

Hello! I'm Maria Bukhtoiarova, Head of Tender Projects at Truman. My journey in communications and Government Relations began in 2020. Even as a student majoring in International Relations, I dreamed of working in this field, although I didn't fully grasp what it entailed 😊️ Over the past 4 years, I have managed 15 completely different projects — from crisis communications for a European pharmaceutical giant to GR support for a global leader in radiology. At Truman, I found the perfect combination of everything an ambitious communicator could wish for — cool socially impactful projects, an incredible corporate culture — I truly adore and am inspired by the people I work with, and opportunities for growth. After almost a year as a Project Manager for a major reputational project, I transitioned to the role of Head of Tender Projects. Tenders are a separate direction at Truman, expertly led by Victoria Dubiv. In its 2 years of existence, I have collaborated with international partners such as USAID, UN Women in Ukraine, and Chemonics. Currently, a separate Business Unit for tenders is being built to implement even more projects that will make our country stronger. So, if talented communicators and professional creatives see this post, reach out — there's plenty of exciting work ahead! #TrumanPeople

Hello! This is Oleksandra Paniak, Associate Partner & Head of Media Relations. For over 10 years, I've dedicated my life to communications, starting with social projects and then spending more than 5 years getting to know the business from the inside. Truman was my first foray into strategic communications. A few months before starting, I read a book by a foreign PR expert about working in an agency, which made me vow never to set foot in such a company due to the multitude of clients, stress, pace, and rapid burnout. However, things didn't turn out as expected, and now I'm happy to be here. For the past three years, I have been developing the Media Relations department. It's incredibly stressful yet fascinating at the same time. We focus on organizing non-paid publications, making the outcome hard to predict. The first year, I tackled this challenge alone, but within six months, we grew to a team of four. Each member is a former journalist who understands how the media works from the inside. We have numerous contacts in both Ukrainian and international online and print media, as well as on TV. Every year, Truman helps dozens of clients highlight their social or business projects and releases thousands of publications without any commercial intent. All the organized materials represent the experience of each of us, an immeasurable amount of effort and energy, and most importantly, pieces of our souls poured into our beloved work! #TrumanPeople

"We must invest in education at the business, government, and personal levels by becoming mentors and participating in educational projects. The future of our country depends on how educated our citizens are." Єлізавета Коренко, head of STEM IS FEM, shared her thoughts on the importance of investing in education in a column for Economichna Pravda: ▪️ Ukraine faces a workforce issue. Unfortunately, the education most people receive does not meet the state's needs. ▪️ Ukrainian companies are in a difficult situation. Employers need specialists to replace those who have joined the army, died, left the country, or are missing because some sectors have long suffered from a lack of skilled workers. ▪️ Business investments in education are investments in their own future: employees, contractors, and clients. Read more about the benefits of gender equality for business and how public-private partnerships in education are organized in the USA in Elizaveta's column: https://lnkd.in/dDtMGeND #TrumanPeople

🌍 Each month, over a hundred publications appear in American Forbes. The competition for reader attention is high—especially for non-profit projects. However, there are ways for Ukrainian charitable initiatives to get published in the world's top magazines at no cost. Oleksandra Paniak, Head of Media Relations, shares some tips: 🖋️ Project Uniqueness. Forbes looks for unique stories that can be experienced live and involve the audience in the process. 🖋️ Understanding the Mechanics of Ukrainian and International Media. You need to know the difference between paid and free publications, identify the right media and journalists, and establish contacts with them. 🖋️ Quality Pitch. This requires understanding the target audience, the journalists' areas of interest, and the ideal timing for communication. 🖋️ Rules of Engagement with Journalists. Offer exclusive material to only one person, be prepared that writing an article might take several months, and always be ready to respond to media inquiries 24/7.
