BJP has decided to nominate its ally and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief Upendra Kushwaha to Rajya Sabha just a month after he came third in Lok Sabha elections from Karakat in
Bihar. Bypolls are anticipated due to the election of BJP's Vivek Thakur and RJD's Misa Bharti to LS.
"Upendra Kushwaha will be the NDA candidate for RS," BJP state president Samrat Choudhary announced Tuesday.
This move is seen as an effort to counter the opposition's "Kushwaha card" and regain the support of the Koeri community, which holds significant political weight in Bihar. The Koeri, also known as Kushwaha, make up 4.21% of the state's electorate, second only to the Yadav, who constitute 14%.
