Officials booked for allegedly framing resident
THANE: The Thane Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has booked five officials from the Thane municipal corporation for allegedly fabricating documents and reports to implicate a resident in a Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act (MRTP) case in 2010.
According to the police, the Thane corporation had slapped a case under relevant sections of the MRTPA against the resident in 2010 following complaints about some alleged illegal constructions by him in his flat.
The resident was acquitted of the charges in 2013 after the court found lapses in the procedures followed, a PI Vijay Kawale at the Thane ACB said.
Subsequently, in 2014, the resident challenged the 2010 action against him and alleged the officials to have fabricated documents to trap him following which the court directed the ACB to register a complaint. However, with no visible developments, the resident approached the court which warned the ACB of contempt following which a case was registered against the five officials under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and others, officials said.
