Due to heavy rain in rural areas of the district, the water in Tapi river was overflowing from causeways and traffic movement on it was suspended. Surat city recorded 55 mm of rain which resulted in temporary waterlogging in many parts of the city.
Meanwhile, residents from different areas complained of damaged roads and no waste collection.
On Friday, Surat Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) health department team surveyed open plots in the city and found accumulation of water in 1,938 plots.
