Nine killed in lightning strike incidents in Bihar, Nitish Kumar announces Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia

In 24 hours, lightning fatalities totaled nine across Bihar's districts: Jehanabad (three deaths), Madhepura, East Champaran, Rohtas, Saran, and Supaul. NEW DELHI: Nine people lost their lives due to lightning strikes in six districts of Bihar within the past 24 hours, officials reported on Saturday.
The fatalities occurred in Jehanabad, Madhepura, East Champaran, Rohtas, Saran, and Supaul districts.
Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has extended his condolences to the bereaved families and announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh to each family.

According to a statement from the chief minister's Office (CMO) Jehanabad district reported three deaths, followed by Madhepura with two fatalities. East Champaran, Rohtas, Saran, and Supaul each reported one death.
"Jehanabad district reported three deaths followed by two in Madhepura, one each in East Champaran, Rohtas, Saran, and Supaul," the CMO stated.
CM expressed his sorrow over the loss of lives and urged the public to adhere to advisories issued by the Disaster Management Department.
"The CM urged people to follow advisories issued by the Disaster Management Department," officials said.
