Sawant: Tamnar project ready to be operational by this Oct
Panaji: The three remaining pylons for the 400kV transmission line of Goa’s Tamnar project were installed last week, said chief minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday as he assured the industry that the project will be operational by Oct.
Sawant said that the Tamnar power project and the Nauxi marina project – both vehemently opposed by environmentalists – are 100% green projects that are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

“The Tamnar project and the Marina project are 100% green projects. But many just created protests in order to increase their value, which is harmful for the state, for the industry and for Goans,” said Sawant.
Sawant was speaking at Goa Chamber Of Commerce & Industry’s annual general meeting. He accused the opposition for inciting people to protest just for the sake of opposition. He urged the opposition to provide constructive inputs while also asking the industry players to back the govt on the projects.
“If there is grid failure we can sustain only if Tamnar Project is operational, otherwise not. In constituency, my own people opposed two poles from being erected. I fell at their feet and told them, that I am standing with the Tamnar project,” said Sawant.
