|I moved to Las Vegas in 1995 with my two daughters. I have resided in Assembly District 10 for the past 28 years. I entered the Electrical JATC in 1996 and am now a retired member of IBEW Local 357. I enjoyed my 27 years as a Journeyman Wireman working on many projects from my first - New York-New York to my last - Fountainebleau. I was an Executive Board member for IBEW Local 357 and a Steward for nearly 7 years. I am also a founding member of the Women’s Committee for IBEW Local 357 and was a member of the Volunteer Action Committee – a joint venture between NECA/IBEW. Upon retirement, I have chosen to give back to my community by running for the Nevada State Assembly.
- A living wage is the backbone of my campaign. I believe all of Nevada will benefit in the future if everyone is provided a living wage. All Nevadans should make a living wage which includes wages, health benefits and the ability to retire with dignity.
- Once Nevadans earn a living wage, parents will be able to help their children with homework, helping to improve scores. Also, parents would know what their children are doing and hopefully lower our crime rates. Better educated students become a more meaningful part of the Nevada economy, whether by entering trades or continuing to higher education eventually opening small businesses or becoming various professionals the state needs. All of these provide a better outcome for our state. In addition, our educators need continued support to increase pay, reduce class size and aid in retention.
- It is not just a good idea but a necessity to include reproductive health care in the Nevada Constitution. I firmly believe that women's health care decisions should be left to each individual woman and her situation. I will fight - tooth and nail - for a woman's right to choose. Reproductive care should be accessible, affordable and be covered by healthcare insurance.
I am a staunch Pro-Choice advocate. I was a teenager when Roe v Wade was won. I will fight to make sure that Nevada retains women's healthcare rights.
Honesty, integrity, a thirst for knowledge, excellent negotiating skills and a deep love for our state.
I am an excellent listener and developed amazing negotiating skills through my years as a Steward.
The importance of being kind.
The assassination of JFK. I was 6 years old, almost 7. The principal announced it over the PA system. I remember my teacher bursting into tears.
Amling's Flowerland and Nursery. When I was 16 my mom drove me around to various businesses to get a job. I landed a cashier position, rode my bike to work and rang up a lot of roses and sod. I worked there until my family moved. Maybe 8 months.
Eve Dallas (from JD Robb - Murder in Death series). She is a bad ass woman, who stands for those who cannot stand for themselves.
Managing continued exponential population growth, a balance needed for housing, economic growth and water needs.
How fast does a snail move? As fast as an es-car-got! This little gem was told to me by a co-worker's 5-year-old son over 40 years ago. He was so proud of being able to tell me this joke! Adorable.
