I loved this part of our visit. A German beer lover's dream. I definitely recommend checking this out on your trip.
I wouldn't want to park in the area. Just take an Uber. Much easier.
When I think of Munich, I think of Marienplatz. This is the center of the old city - with Viktualienmarkt (a perfect food and drink market) is to the east, the looming city hall (Rathaus) and the famous moving parts of the Glockenspiel (in the clock tower) are a must to watch on the hour. There are shops and restaurants all over the square to enjoy outside seating or just pick up a bakery item and coffee.
Department stores and various brand name shops are along Kaufinger Straße to the east - and to the northwest, head up the Residenz and then English Garden. All easy access from Marienplatz
It gets crowded but worth seeing the Glockenspeil one time. There are several entry points for the U and S bahn which are convenient. Great view from the tower in the Neu Rathaus (if the line isn't too long...you have to go inside and take an elevator the the 4th floor to get tickets).
A great place, go there just before 11 or 12 .00 h so you can see in operation the animated clock of the Newrathouse. A lot of shops and cafes all around. Also the Saint Peter's church, the toy museum, the Rathouse itself, etc etc
Great day to be in the Marienplatz. Got a front row table in front of the Glockenspiel. Bells are ringing at 3pm.
