Cozy and comfortable in a beautiful setting.

Reviewed Apr 27, 2023
Cozy, comfortable room. Very hot water for baths. Good breakfast selection. Excellent location. Walked to restaurants for dinner. Close to drive to Interlakken and tourist sites. Good advice from Reinhardt and his staff. Only regret is not being able to eat Reinhardt's cooking, since he retired from his restaurant.

Disliked · Noise from other guests, but that's not the fault of the inn. Perhaps they could put a sign on each floor with Quiet Hours listed to remind guests to be courteous.

I stayed solo for one night in June - having stayed elsewhere in the village for 3 nights, so this review is relatively objective.

Very conveniently located just a couple of minutes walk from the railway station and directly across the road from the tourist information office (get your regional travel pass here).

Limited parking spaces, but I managed. More of a problem later on in the afternoon it seems.

Very friendly, helpful and informative reception staff.

The public areas of the hotel have retained their traditional features, which is to be welcomed. However, in general, internally the hotel is looking a little tired and worn.
The garden, as others have reported, is a delight and so well maintained. The views up the valley towards the Jungfrau are limited by other close by properties. The price to pay for the convenient mid village location.

My small single room had a side view (you get what you pay for) and like the corridor, was dated and a little tired with thin curtains. Clean, good quality bed linen and comfortable enough, (as long as you are not taller than 6 feet for the bed). Some evening and early morning road noise - not too intrusive. Bathroom clean and functional with a curtained shower over the bath. Thin towels,

Buffet breakfast was to an average standard and quality.

The restaurant was welcoming with staff who spoke excellent English. An average menu with average prices.

Represented good enough value given the location.

Would I stay again? Probably not until the tired areas have been refreshed - I’d be be prepared to pay a premium for this.

Typical Swiss experience. Do not expect an American experience.
Very polite staff, great breakfast and cozy room. Clean bathroom.
Amazing view of the Alps even by been laying on the bed. Great location for train or car. Very close to train station and free parking on the sidewalk.

Many hotels get away with a great view or location. Not in this case. The Alpenrose hotel and gardens met all expectations and more. From when you walk in you are met with friendliness. The garden is beautiful. The food fantastic and the view to die for. but what impressed us most was the small things. The staff, not only trying to make your stay pleasant, but ensuring that you have all the info you need for your day trips and other plans. This warm, caring and genuine, hospitality you often struggle to find in the EU and Switzerland. We look forward to go back for the winter and some Skiing! Thank you all.

Room tip: View of the Jungfrau.

We've spent the last few nights in this lovely hotel in Wilderswil. Upon arrival we were lucky to get a parking spot in front of the hotel because apparently they are scarce (at night all parking spots were occupied and people parked literally everywhere in front of the hotel). However, the hotel offers compensation when you can't park next to the hotel. You will then have to park next to the station (at the end of the street).

The receptionist was really amazing. Sofia felt like a friend, very helpful and came by during breakfast to have a chat. She, by herself, is already a reason to return. At the check-in, you will receive free train tickets for your stay to Interlaken.

Breakfast was great. Corona proof, in case you're concerned. Good distance, bread and toppings were all packed separately. Regular cleaning too.

The rooms were clean, but dated. The floor was very squeaky, at one point we were scared to be a burden to the people staying below us. The bed was good, we've slept well. The view was amazing too, mountain view guaranteed in every room. The rooms being dated honestly just fits with the overall asthethic, so it wasn't an issue.

If we're ever visiting again we will surely consider returning to this property!

We stayed at the Alpenrose on our last night in Switzerland. We chose this place due to the close proximity to Lauterbrunnen as we would be travelling there the following day to trek the waterfalls.
Upon arrival we were disappointed there were no parking spaces. The hotel has a very limited amount which is first come first served. We were very grateful that this was promptly rectified by the hotel owner, as he moved his own car so that we had a safe and secure place. If you are unable to find a space at the hotel, the recommendation is that you will need to pay and park at the station nearby.
The hotel itself is over 120 years old - the sister property Eidelweiss being 200 and both being original structures. This appealed to us as we wanted an authentic rustic, Swiss chalet style experience, surrounded by nature and it definitely did not disappoint.
The room was very basic with wooden furniture and obviously no air-con but all that was forgotten once you go out to the balcony and see the view! This is the reason you stay here - completely breathtaking! The bathroom was small, however for a period style had a very good powerful shower.
The hotel gardens are stunning and served as the perfect backdrop to our dinner that evening at restaurant Edelweiss.
The breakfast was very good, self-service buffet style and included unlimited bubbles if desired.
We will definitely return on our next Swiss holiday, next time we will try the Edelweiss next door as recommended by the staff.
