We are a family of 4 and finding a room for 4 in Europe can be a challenge. Hotel Derby was perfect for our family, the room for 4 was a great set up. They managed to fill the room with many nice amenities you would find at a chain hotel. The breakfast was very good and they had a lot to offer. When I arrived my suitcase had cracked and I was so worried about making it for the remainder of the trip and the flight home to USA. I asked at the reception if they had any tape I could use, a few minutes later they brought me some duct tape and scissors so I could tape the crack in my suitcase. It was an absolute lifesaver. I got through the trip and made it home. They saved me from a potential disaster. Very much appreciated. You can expect great treatment if you stay here.

It is more of a home stay rather than a hotel.
Breakfast is average. Rooms are fine. Location is 15 min walk from Interlaken west station. If you want to use only for sleep after a tiring day, it's an option.
Good thing is they allow to use pantry in their backyard for food heating.

Fit the bill - we needed a one night accommodation that did not break the bank. Well located with plenty of parking as we had a rental car. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom small but standard European. Our main complaint was the other guests staying were several families in multiple rooms that made noise well after 11 and before 7.

The Worst Hotel Ever
Mr George is not a good hotel host. When I check in the hotel, Mr George tells us the room is not allowed to eat hot food in the room, but while the Swiss government has close all the restaurant. The hotel should state this information in the online travel agent. The host is so rude that he yells at us not once but twice by saying some very bad words, there is no reason for a so called 'hotel' staff to yell at their customers, we did wrong and we would accept any punishment but we could not accept a hotel staff to yell at us and saying bad words. In my point of view, the host makes us feel that we are not welcome to the hotel from the beginning, we were being discriminated because of our nationality.
Moreover, the hotel wifi connection is very poor and slow.

It is questionable when hotel management students do not adhere to the minimum hotel rules and cook without permission in the first occupied, new hotel room. Especially since you were already offered an alternative in advance. It makes me sad when one's own misconduct is punished with unjust, bad ratings. I have absolutely no understanding for such machinations.

The hotel was super clean, AC was terrific as it was so hot. The breakfast was wonderful and perfect with a good selection. The beds were clean and comfortable. We slept great. The staff were excellent. The location is very close so we can walk to dinner or the store.

Stayed at Derby Hotel Interlaken for one week. Perfect stay at this cozy hotel. Very nice rooms, friendly staff and good breakfast.
The hotel is located in a quite area, and it's close to everything.
We really recommend Derby Hotel and hope we can return one day!

Personal Attention! The Hotel Derby was the best hotel that we stayed in on our 3 week trip to France, Switzerland and Spain. Very clean rooms, big bathrooms for Europe(no hair dryers in room), wonderful staff, great breakfast (was included in our cost) and you must try the yogurt. I would recommend this hotel with no hesitations and I am very very picky. Interlaken was beautiful! Sorry I have no pics of the room that show how great it was.

This was my worst experience in my 10years of travel.
Don't even go here if your skin color is not white.
The manager even called my kids 2year old and 7year old as devils.

Thanks to the moderate size of our family managed hotel, we can react very promptly to any feedback from our customers. The direct contact to our guests is very important to us and the numerous, loyal guest from all over the world compliment our efforts daily and feed our big motivation. We are constantly evaluating and improving our quality and monitor our standards daily. Anonymous comments without details of dates and proof of the stay in our hotel are not fair and should not be tolerated and therefore will not be debated further from our side. I'm surprised more people haven't written a review about this lovely hotel. Conveniently located - almost directly across from the large grass area in the center of town and about 10 mins walk from the station (you can use either Interlaken East or West). We stayed in room 28, which was upstairs and overlooked a row of residential gardens, along with some spectacular mountain views. The room was small, but perfectly adequate and the bathroom was large by European standards. Ours did have a hairdryer. Wonderful hospitality - good local information as well. Good breakfast with muesli, yoghurt and the ever-popular Swiss hot chocolate. Highly recommend the trip to Jungfraujoch - fairly strenuous walk outside in the snow to the top restaurant - only because it's at 12 000 feet. But well worth it and the food was great. Be advised - it can be mobbed inside. As food is so expensive in Switzerland, recommend the Co-Op grocery shop opposite the station. The one in Interlaken even has a restaurant upstairs, where you can get a plate of food for about CHF 12 and a great cuppachino for CHF 2.30. Best deal in town. Highly recommend the hotel and would definitely return.

We have just returned from our switzerland trip. Never ever in our life did we stay in such a bad hotel as hotel Derby. It is really a pity that the hotel which looks tastefully decorated from outside has such horrible service.
The staff of the hotel are very unfriendly and the quality of service was pathetic. We were not provided with adequate help and information by the staff of the hotel. The room did not have a basic facility of an intercom or a phone and everytime we had to run from the second floor down to ask for trivial things.
To our sheer disappointment the only piece of information provided to us about the tourist office opening time was also incorrect. We faced a lot of inconvience because of this . I would recommend visitors always to double check information provided by the hotel in order to avoid such instances.
Breakfast was a nightmare. Beef was the only option and since we dont have beef so we had nothing to eat and had to survive on an apple and a cup of tea. Virtually no effort was made when we requested for some alternative arrangements. So in case you are a vegetarian or do not have beef then you should never stay in this hotel.
I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.The only thing i would suggest is that staying in this hotel is a complete waste of time, effort and money.
