Less than 5 minutes train ride from Interlaken OST Station towards Lauterbrunnen will take you to Wilderwil Railway Station. There are other options like taking a bus, which is cheaper, or cab. Alpenrose Hotel and Gardens is less than 5 minutes walk from Wilderwil Station. Whatever might be your luggage size, it would not be difficult to take that walk to the hotel. The hotel is located in a quite lane, without any traffic as such.

There are two parts of the hotel, one the hotel itself and the other being the cheaper hostel facility. You have to be sure what you are booking to avoid a surprise at the time of check in. Check in is on the ground floor (or 1st floor as is referred to in most part of the Globe other than in Asia). Rooms are there on all the floors with the ones on the ground floor have direct access to wonderfully maintained garden and Jacuzzi. Beautiful views of the mountains is available from all the rooms. Our triple room on the 1st Floor (or 2nd Floor as per the Hotel), with attached bath, was facing the road and did not have a balcony which some of the other rooms had. However, that did not deprive the view. The only downsize in selecting the higher floors is this hotel does not have any lift, which means, you have to carry your luggage to your room which can be difficult if you have number of heavy luggage as we had with us. The rooms are clean and very basic, with wooden floors. The hotel is very old but well maintained.

The breakfast spread is good and the most interesting were the colorful eggs. There is enough to suit the requirement of everyone. There is also a restaurant which has decent offerings. We had dinner twice during our stay and liked it. There is also a adequately stocked Negros (if I recollect the name properly) near the station from where you can pick up sandwiches, fruits as well as drinks.

I must also complement the staff who were very helpful and provided us the required guidance which helped in proper planning of our trips. You can take your trips to Jungfrau as well as other places like Murren and Schilthorn from the Wilderwil Station. The picturesque trip to Schynige Platte on the cog wheel trains also depart from this station.

I would surely recommend this hotel.

I stayed solo for one night in June - having stayed elsewhere in the village for 3 nights, so this review is relatively objective.

Very conveniently located just a couple of minutes walk from the railway station and directly across the road from the tourist information office (get your regional travel pass here).

Limited parking spaces, but I managed. More of a problem later on in the afternoon it seems.

Very friendly, helpful and informative reception staff.

The public areas of the hotel have retained their traditional features, which is to be welcomed. However, in general, internally the hotel is looking a little tired and worn.
The garden, as others have reported, is a delight and so well maintained. The views up the valley towards the Jungfrau are limited by other close by properties. The price to pay for the convenient mid village location.

My small single room had a side view (you get what you pay for) and like the corridor, was dated and a little tired with thin curtains. Clean, good quality bed linen and comfortable enough, (as long as you are not taller than 6 feet for the bed). Some evening and early morning road noise - not too intrusive. Bathroom clean and functional with a curtained shower over the bath. Thin towels,

Buffet breakfast was to an average standard and quality.

The restaurant was welcoming with staff who spoke excellent English. An average menu with average prices.

Represented good enough value given the location.

Would I stay again? Probably not until the tired areas have been refreshed - I’d be be prepared to pay a premium for this.

We've spent the last few nights in this lovely hotel in Wilderswil. Upon arrival we were lucky to get a parking spot in front of the hotel because apparently they are scarce (at night all parking spots were occupied and people parked literally everywhere in front of the hotel). However, the hotel offers compensation when you can't park next to the hotel. You will then have to park next to the station (at the end of the street).

The receptionist was really amazing. Sofia felt like a friend, very helpful and came by during breakfast to have a chat. She, by herself, is already a reason to return. At the check-in, you will receive free train tickets for your stay to Interlaken.

Breakfast was great. Corona proof, in case you're concerned. Good distance, bread and toppings were all packed separately. Regular cleaning too.

The rooms were clean, but dated. The floor was very squeaky, at one point we were scared to be a burden to the people staying below us. The bed was good, we've slept well. The view was amazing too, mountain view guaranteed in every room. The rooms being dated honestly just fits with the overall asthethic, so it wasn't an issue.

If we're ever visiting again we will surely consider returning to this property!

Very cozy hotel with the beautiful rose garden and marvelous views over Jungfrau mountain. Hotel has a hot tub outside, good beer, very friendly and helpful staff (which recommend and reserve any restaurant of your choice in the vicinity). We are definitely coming back soon!

The hotel is located next to the train station (you can go to the Top of Europe directly). The frond desk woman is very nice and helpful.
However, the room is very very noisy. The wooden floor is creaking and you can hear the people talking distinctly. We couldn’t sleep all night long because of the noise.
The breakfast is simple, nothing spectacular.

Dear Laura Thank you very much for your feedback. We are proud to say that our hotel is more than 120 years old and wooden floors are the significant sign of historical hotel. We are sorry you did not mentioned the floor problem to our staff since we would gladly offer you a room renovated last year (half of the hotel was renovated in 2019). We still hope you enjoyed the best view over the Jungfrau glacier. Please know you are always welcome with us. Kind regards, Anze

Many hotels get away with a great view or location. Not in this case. The Alpenrose hotel and gardens met all expectations and more. From when you walk in you are met with friendliness. The garden is beautiful. The food fantastic and the view to die for. but what impressed us most was the small things. The staff, not only trying to make your stay pleasant, but ensuring that you have all the info you need for your day trips and other plans. This warm, caring and genuine, hospitality you often struggle to find in the EU and Switzerland. We look forward to go back for the winter and some Skiing! Thank you all.

On arriving at the hotel you become aware that it is a little diferrent, a disserted reception for starters. After a brief search of the ground floor the owner appeared and booked us in. She offered a drink so we had a beer she then disappeared again so we were left to search for our room, which we found on the second floor (3rd floor in USA/Canada). On entering the room I was glad we had not packed a cat as there was no room to swing it. The room was small with a shower room (we knew that we were not getting a bath), we had a shared balcony over looking Wilderswil with its pretty chalets. The room was clean and in good condition , as it was only 2 star the only extra you got was a TV with cable BBC prime and CNN being the only English channels. The lounge areas were warm friendly and cosy you could not want for more, like some ones front parlour.
The view from the rear rooms (higher room rate) and garden were stunning looking up the valley to the Jungfau mountain. The breakfast was the normal continental affair, bread cheese, ham boiled egg and cereals. The evening meals were ok except maybe the fish on Fridays.
The hotel is situated on a quite road just 3 minuets walk from the railway station with connections to Jungfraujock and Interlaken and beyond. Bern is only 51 mins away from Interlaken.
The hotel was fine for the price we paid different but friendly and attentive service in the dinning room from a set menu. I would stay again

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of the expat Europe taster tour
as it happens it was new years eve/day as well.

The hotel is very old, a bit dirty with a 60's furniture and decor.
we stayed on the 3rd floor, it was ok, considering it was only for 2 nights.
it's so old and dated, as we stayed in the room we could easily hear our neighbors using the toilet or coughing!
every step you would make in the room will leave you wondering if you'll fall on the ground floor.
if you have the courage to go on the balcony, you need to be careful to not end up in the garden!

But what was more shocking was the behaviour of the staff: not even a smile, or a friendly welcome! rude, rude, hungry for money!

we had the New years "dinner" there (as part of the expat tour -i understand they own the hotel as well)- what a joke! -dry rice, sour vegetables and a bit of chicken all under the "hawk" eyes of the staff -who warn us to "wait in the queue" and not to take extras!
end of the "1 dollar meal" -we been served a single scoop of vanilla ice cream, probably from a big box bought in cash and carry!
we left hungry and disappointed, it was the new years eve! and wilderswill is not exactly a town full of restaurants to go somewhere else and eat!
what a disappointment!

also, the breakfast: a terminator woman who would never smile will watch us closely and count every peace of cheese we eat! the ham was off, my partner got an allergy from their "lovely" food!

I really feel sorry for you, as you take for granted the amazing views of Jungrafrau and the location but you don't have a clue about what hospitality means!

if you are in the area and you truly want to enjoy Jungrafrau -go for a different hotel!
