Breakfast is decent, typical Swiss breakfast (Breads, Cold cuts, cereals)
When booking in hotel, you'll have to specifically ask not to be stay at room 17. it's located on the 4th floor and it has a slanting, low headroom which is prone to accidently hitting your head on the roof. The bed also has a footboard which makes sleeping difficult if you are a tall person. We tried to stay for 2 nights but can't get a good sleep and asked to be moved to another room on the 3rd night however there were not available similar type rooms and we were asked to pay extra to upgrade. I wish that they just waived the upgrade fee given the situation, we ended up moving to another hotel for the 3rd and 4th night as we were not getting the rest that we needed. The hotel agreed to cancel the 4th night without charges but we paid for the 3rd night since we checked out late (which is ok)
Like most hotels in Interlaken, there are no lifts in this property so you'll need to be prepared to carry your luggages via stairs
We booked 2 standard mountain rooms which is not cheap (CHF 237 per night per room) but one of the room was the bad one.
Suggestion to the hotel - you may have rooms similar to room 17, I suggest that at point of sale - have a different category of this type of room with clear photos. Then sell it cheaper than the standard room. This way, customer's expectations are already set properly. the photos in booking.com and agoda showed the regular rooms but we were given the slanting room
The hotel room however was small for 4 persons, with however a nice balcony (we were at the annex) with super view of the mountains.
The continental breakfast offered a wide choice and the evening meals were delicious. Michele and her team in the dining room were welcoming and attentive. The reception staff were helpful and our room was clean and well-serviced. One could relax on the terrace at the front of the hotel and enjoy a drink.
Public transport is within easy reach, the 105 bus stops around the corner from the hotel and takes one to Interlaken West where there are good connections. The train station is about 10 minute's walk, slightly downhill from the hotel.
Wilderswil is a central location from which to explore the Bernese Oberland. We would highly recommend staying at this hotel and we hope to return soon.
The five course dinners were excellent every day and served by very jolly and welcoming waitresses. They were very generous with the included wine and beer too. At breakfast there was a wide choice of cheeses and cold meats as well as muesli, yogurt and fruit salad. The range of different kinds of bread was the best we have ever seen in a hotel and there was a variety of jams too.
The village of Wilderswil is beautiful and the station was only ten minutes walk from the hotel, so the hotel is in an ideal location for exploring this stunning part of the world.
The rooms are very comfortable with everything you could need.
The food is exceptional with many courses and great variety.
We were very impressed with the staff who were all helpful and cheerful.
I would definitely recommend this hotel. It is well positioned in a perfect Swiss village just a 10 minute walk from Wilderswil station.
