Had a great evening. Chef Xabi produced a fantastic tasting menu with an excellent wine pairing all well described and served by his assistant- sorry name escapes me! - who has very good English. Booked on strength of previous reviews which proved accurate and very pleased I did. Definitely return when next in Barcelona. Thanks both

What can I say about our night at Santa Rita Experience that properly conveys what an incredible meal we had there? There’s a reason people rave about this place and why it appears on so many food blogs – it’s a truly unique experience. The place is so exclusive there’s not even a sign on the door, and is reservation-only – with just a handful of guests each evening by design. Once you’re inside, the chef Xabi Bonilla cooks a sumptuous multi-course tasting menu right in front of you, with every course a culinary odyssey. My wife and I absolutely loved every minute of our evening – from the incredible white asparagus to the ceviche bursting with zingy flavour to the perfectly cooked beef. The (two) dessert courses were also outstanding. I can thoroughly recommend the wine pairing, which worked beautifully with the different stages of the meal, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. Considering the quality of the food, the tasting menu is really incredible value and this is a real treat if you’re going to Barcelona.

Some of the best food I have ever had the pleasure of eating. My partner and I enjoyed 6 courses with a complementary appetiser and 2 desserts. Each dish was unique in flavour and excellently balanced. The highest quality ingredients and brilliant service, the Santa Rita experience is a must for anyone visiting Barcelona. Not only the food but the atmosphere is incredibly welcoming, curated wine selection and furnished very tastefully. I particularly enjoyed the matching of cutlery to the dishes. Would definitely go again.

A simply amazing experience. It must be said from the outset, this is NOT a Michelin star restaurant, it is better!!!!!!! From the outset, it was clear, this is a restaurant that focuses on flavour, innovation, creativity and freshness as its core values and this is reflected in every dish served. From home created dishes to family dishes re-invented for a modern audience. Each dish is served by the chef with a dish description and an exclusive wine pairing from the chef's friends vineyards. I am amazed this restaurant is not awash with awards. I would recommend the full menu experience with wine pairings and this is a must stop for any visitors to Barcelona looking for that something different but very special and a definite must for any local yet to try. I will be back again and cannot wait. The potato ravioli with truffle mayo and the foie gras stuffed roasted pepper are 2 dishes worthy of that extra special mention, truly inspirational cooking. Chef, Bravo!

What can I say that hasn't already been said? "Experience" sums it up. I'm a superb home cook and when I travel and eat, I want to both find inspiration and eat things I wouldn't make at home. Santa Rita checked both of those boxes. A feast for the senses: colors, textures, aromas, beautiful plating. It was a rather quiet evening when we were there so we dined at leisure and with much wonderful interaction with the chef and his associate. Highly recommend the wine pairing; a lovely enhancement.

The four of us went for the experience tonight. My son and daughter-in-law had been raving about this place to the point where one was a bit concerned that they may have exaggerated it a bit. Believe me, they had not . The food was exquisite and the wine matching was perfect. This is one of the places one really want to keep hidden so one can always get a table. However, I found that it would be unfair to the chef not to review it. The place is hidden away a bit but it is one of those where I would travel quite a distance to experience the food. One is seated in what seems to be a private dining room with an open kitchen. The chef encourages you to watch him perform his miracles and he is happy to explain the different dishes, what ingredients he is using as well as how they are prepared. I understand that the menu change with the seasons. Do yourself a favour, if you are in Barcelona, and go at least once. We shall be back in about three weeks when another member of our family arrives.

Everything in the Santa Rita Menu was amazing and incredibly flavourful. Being seated next to the chef's workspace was really cool since we were able to see him working his magic, and the Rosé wine was some of the best I've ever had. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys food, and I would come back to Barcelona just to visit again when the chef comes out with a new menu.

What a place! We were in the city for three days, had a taster menu at our hotel, went to LoS Caracoles in the Gothic Quarter (also a 5* place) but this was, as we say in London, different gravy. The whole thing, the food is a given, it’s incredible but so many places have incredible food, the paring wines have been properly thought through. Service is really light touch but at the same time incredibly attentive. It is more than dinner, it is an experience. And if you live somewhere like New York or London and used to get folded over on price… not here, it is very reasonably priced. I’ll admit I wanted to like it because it was a gift from our daughter. But it was beyond expectations. You won’t happen upon this place by chance visiting the city. I highly, highly recommend it.

I don't usually write reviews, but I also don't usually come across places like Santa Rita. The minute I walked in, the decoration was screaming "different": it looks like a modernist kitchen that's collided with an artist's loft. Very fancy, but also very cozy. Then, came the food. Oh man... Honestly, I can't remember the names for half of the things I had, but those were some wild flavors. The "ajoblanco" soup was a standout, for me. I went with the "wine pairing" option, and the staff was super informative; the head chef is really passionate, and the waitress knew her stuff about the wines. You can tell they really, really want you to have a good time. So, if I'm being honest, the only negative point in the evening was there were some incredibly rude clients making their lives difficult, and it was a bit painful to watch. So, in case they read this review and remember me, just want to say I don't think I would've had the patience to handle them as well as they did xddd. I will definitely be back, sooner rather than later.

So, I feel a bit bad leaving Santa Rita 4 stars as they made a great effort, but unfortunately it didn't live up to our expectations. The restaurant is down a little side street, that appears a bit run down and you could miss the place as there is no sign, but we kinda like that sort of place. Inside it's stylish, a bit qwerky, with the tables and the kitchen all in the same room. Nice greeting from the lady who is the waitress and also helps with the food, we felt it was a shame that the chef, the main man, didn't greet us as it's a very intimate place, but OK, some people aren't so sociable. The food was all beautifully prepared, with 1st class ingredients and it was a nice touch at the beginning to serve the cheese and chocolate stones and fish appetizer around a central table. Generally we enjoyed the food, but it just felt that the chef was trying a bit too hard and some of the 'experiments' didn't come off. The stuffed peppers and tuna were delicious. However, the sea urchin cream had an odd consistency and it was almost too fishy, although the small eggs were great. The artichokes tasted over cooked, a very mush consistency and it was funny, the chef took them out the oven and then put them back, for me that was a mistake. The peas and beans with the artichoke were nice. Potato ravioli I can only ask why? What's wrong with pasta raviloli, with potato it definitelty wasn't beter. The lamb steak for me was too smokey, too many flavours with the tupinambo cream and the sage, plus I know it was slow cooked, but it was a bit overcooked, a bit dry. The desserts followed a similar vein. The chestnut foam lacked substance and the flavours didn't seem to gel, the deconstructed apple pie was a bit mushy. The choclate lentils were delicious, I love a bit of dark choc and the lentils were a nice touch. Don't get me wrong, we had a nice evening, but for me the chef needs to think a bit more about how the flavours and the ingredients go together.

This was a wonderful dining experience!! The chef prepared all the plates in front of us and explained the local ingredients. My favorites were chicken pate in a roasted red pepper made from chefs mothers recipe and grill calamari with squid ink filling and crispy rice. Both were heavenly! My Spanish is terrible but chef and his assistant were very welcoming and helpful in explaining to me in English. It is a unique experience and would definitely recommend!!

If you enjoy great food, bubbly staff & a really intimate setting then you will love this restaurant!! The quality of the food was exceptional, all courses were varied & delicious, each courses ingredients were described & then paired with a local wine to compliment it. It was such a fun & different night, with both the food & level of service stand out highlights for all four of our party. We can’t wait to come back again!!

If you are looking for something special to surprise your friends, partner or colleagues. You can enjoy and relax, have a look into the kitchen if you like or join the maestro and help cooking. He is a very good cook and uses natural products from the region and explains them very well. Warmly to recommend.

We have traveled and eaten all over the world. The Santa Rita Experience was the BEST culinary voyage to date. Each of the 7-course selections was intricate, delicate, playful, and full of flavor. This is a must-do experience for foodies. Bonus: the wine pairings were perfect and highly recommended.
