We have just returned from a fantastic week at the Casa de la Rosa. We are a family of 9 adults and 5 chldren. we spent our days playing tennis, table tennis and swimimng in the pool , in the evenings we all ate together in the lovely bbq house warmed by the open log fire enjoying fine local wines. Helena the housekeeper is a lovely lady always on hand when we needed anything. We did not explore our surroundings very much as we were enjoying the house and relaxing in the sun; however, what we did see was gorgeous mountain scenery with miles of vineyards .The area is very rural and a car is a must. The owners were very helpful before our trip, sending us maps and lists of days out. The house is very well equiped. We cannot understand the previous poor review we read on tripadvisor. We enjoyed a great family holiday

Basically, the appearance and quality (or lack thereof) was fundamentally different from what the web-site led us believe was present at this house.Three groups of friends rented this house jointly for a week of fun in Spain and that is not what we experienced. Our holiday was this summer and what we found was disagreeable and unsightly, not to mention just down right filthy. Even the flag was tatty and faded! And it is in the middle of nowhere! There is not a single cafe, put or public restaurant (we didn't count the one local legion hall as a public place!) It is a 20 minuter drive to the nearest village down a windy, narrow, unlit road. Also, because it is up in the hills, it was cool in the evenings, too cool in fact to sit out comfortably, which was a big disappointment.
In terms of the house, we found dead flies on the window sill ,grossness in the kitchen drawers and dirty condiment holder ,dirty fridge and floor in the upstairs kitchen , greasy hand-marks on the door of the dishwasher, dirty state of the bathroom counter , crap in the door frame to the pool deck, food remains stuck to the side of the bar microwave and a very dirty rubbish can as well, squashed mosquito marks all over the upstairs bedroom walls and general neglect as evidenced by the weeds in the garden and the un-swept driveway and entranceand the stains on the wall .

There was also dried juice all over the upstairs kitchen counter, greasy handprints around the kitchen handles, dirty dishes that were in the kitchen cupboard, dried on crud that was around the pool deck and a very dirty downstairs kitchen floor.

There was no mention of the fact that if one uses the shower downstairs, the water pressure for the upstairs portion of the house no longer functions-the de facto result is that on several occasions, one would be lathered up in the upstairs shower, only the have the water disappear and have to stand there and wait for it to come back on!! The quality of the beds upstairs was extremely poor and no attempt was made to address the ever-present mosquitoes with mosquito nets as was the case with the downstairs bedrooms- the result, several of our children suffered with scores of mosquito bites. The dishwasher, which was left broken upon by the previous renters, was never fixed, nor did we see a technician attempt to fix it. And let me say, that washing and drying the dishes for fourteen people after every meal was not anyone’s idea of a vacation! Furthermore, it was functionally unreasonable to use the kitchen upstairs as our base, as we rented this property jointly with friends and so were cooking and eating communally, for safety’s sake, in the kitchen nearest to the pool, where our children were swimming. RE the dishwasher, the housekeeper maintained that it was a general holiday for the whole area and no one was available. We decided to ask in the town (Torres and Villa Franca) if this was the case and heard that although people wanted to take their holidays in August, this was not always possible and that everything was open for business as usual. So, why the dishwasher wasn't fixed, who knows?!
Overall, our attempts to work out a reasonable resolution with the owners was unsatisfactory, we found the housekeeper and boy-friend 'gardener' lazy and not very bright. A two thumbs down!!
