Great restaurant to chill out

I really liked the location of the restaurant next to the river where you can sit outside and watch joggers, walkers and cyclists. There was very little traffic on the road so it felt like an oasis after the bussle of the old town. They do very nice sangria and tapas and the decor and facilities where very good.

The food is very good, with a good variety of Spanish and Andalusian dishes. The “flamenquin” is highly recommended. Good service, even if next time I’ll prefer to taste the wine of the opened bottle, as it is usually done, instead of having the wine immediately poured for me and my family

We loved it so much, we ate there twice. Authentic, quality, affordable delicious dishes. However, you do need extra time and patience as it usually takes a long time to order, serve the dishes, pay and be seated. A reservation is encouraged.

Average food, bad service but cheap

We visited this restaurant last night after seeing great reviews on TA. We had high expectations but were not impressed. The waiters and waitresses had quite a lot of attitude and didn’t handle the busy restaurant well. We had to ask numerous times for things and they forgot our calamari. The food was average but the croquettas and wine were good. A bottle of wine and 4 plates came to 34 euros which we were pleasantly surprised by. However, we would not recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I just arrived here in Cordaba and were looking forward to a late lunch/early dinner at this restaurant because of the great reviews. Obviously it is a very busy weekend so perhaps that explains the lack of concern of the waiter AND the lackluster food. Our waiter took our beverage order and when we asked for a menu he completely ignored us. Then we noticed the tiny QR symbol on the corner of the table. Once we found that we scrolled through the menu and came up with a few things that sounded good. When the waiter brought our beverages we asked about ordering and he sort of waved us away. Eventually he came back and without any encouragement we ordered two salads and two main tapas. My salad came out and it was quite large and I realized we probably ordered too much. Luckily our waiter forgot the 2nd salad so our food was closer to what we could eat. Other wait people brought our food out. The fried calamari was very good, the salad pretty good although the chicken was WAY overcooked, the rest of the meal okay. Our waiter never came back to ask us if we were missing anything and when we asked for the bill he just ignored us. A helpful woman waiter brought out the bill and sure enough we were charged for two salads. She did take it off the bill and we paid her. Our original waiter disappeared completely. He looked tired but no excuse for such poor service. Needless to say we won't be eating here again during our 4-day stay and would not recommend. I realize that some days are just "off-days" but again, my high hopes were very disappointed.

Highly recommend

My girlfriend and I ate dinner here a few days ago, and we had a great experience. The food was delicious and fairly priced, the waiting time was short and the surroundings were cozy. Most of all, the level of service was high from the waiters. We were mostly served by the nice waitress with the glasses, who spoke very well English, whose name we forgot but starts with a B. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Great Food, Friendly Staff

The food, the drinks, and the service were all great. We particularly enjoyed the croquettes, the pork stew, and the very interesting local assortment of cheeses (all from around Cordoba). We also appreciated the ability to order most dishes as tapas, half rations, and full rations, which allowed us (as a group of two) to try more of the menu. If you go here, be aware that the tapas portion is still fairly large. We primarily drank sangria, which was also excellent. We also particularly appreciated our waiter, Javier, who was exceptionally friendly and gave us good tips on the menu (both in terms of what to order and quantity), despite being fairly new. Javier really worked hard to ensure we had an exceptional dining experience and was our favorite waiter during our 8-day trip in Spain.

A Touch of The Exquisite

Bodegas Mezquita is a ternate restaurant chain based in Cordoba, videlicet, Céspedes, Corregidor and Ribera, the latter of becoming our luncheon choice as we strolled through Cordoba’s inner walled avenues and alleyways. Our party of four were kindly greeted, as much as knowing where we came from owing to our bilingual demeanour, and served the most delicious food, a melange of the typical dishes fused in with a touch of the nouveau. Our chef and waiter were Maria and Pedro respectively, to whom we thank for making our stay a pleasant one. Cordoba is a wonderful city, and we recommend it to anyone who has never ventured here not to miss out, and to make this restaurant a part of either for lunch or dinner. Keep well on track of your offerings, and continue the trend 👍👍👍

Fantastic dishes and service

Everything on the menu sounds delicious and every dish as ordered was exceptional. We loved the eggplant dish, the salmojero, and both the lamb and iberic meat dishes. Our server Natalia provided exceptional service and even treated us to a little dessert wine at the end of the meal. We would love to come back and try more items on the menu!

Authentic Córdoba's gastronomy

I came with my family, (who are used to traveling and getting to know the local gastronomy first hand), and we were pleasantly surprised by this delicious authentic Córdoba's gastronomy. It was made even better with their great service. We were served by Maria, who combines a high professionalism with a close, warm and customised treatment. It was an extraordinary experience which I highly recommend. (I don't usually post reviews but it is worthwhile to emphasize it) Vine con mi familia, (quiénes solemos viajar y conocer bien la gastronomía local), y fuimos gratamente sorprendidos por la autenticidad y calidad de la comida recibida. Esto fue aún mejor con el servicio recibido. Fuimos atendidos por María, quién combina una gran profesionalidad con un trato cercano, acogedor y personalizado. Fue una extraordinaria experiencia que recomiendo fuertemente. (No suelo publicar reseñas, pero esta merecía la pena).

Amazing dinner in Córdoba

We chose Bodegas Mezquita because it was recommended both by Rick Steves and by our AirBnB host. For being right next to the Mezquita we were worried it might be a little too touristy, but we were quite mistaken! The selection and quality of food were both amazing, we can especially recommend the meatballs with almond and saffron sauce. The eggplant was also delicious. And don’t miss out on the “naranjas a la antigua” for dessert! We were warmly greeted by the hostess, and our waiter Isaac was both professional and personable, providing sound guidance when we had questions about the menu. Will happily return here again!

Friendly, high quality Tapas, reasonably priced

We quickly raced through the Iberico ham, chickpea stew, deep fried aubergines, mixed bolas, Salmorejo and other dishes. The staff were all enthusiastic and we had quite a bit of help to interpret the dishes. It would be glorious to be on the sidewalk looking over the river in Summer, but alas it was a cold winter's evening. Not fine dining but a step up from the average tapas we had. But also not going to break the bank.

Tasty tapas

My family and I stopped here during a day trip to Cordoba from Seville. We booked a couple of hours before wanting to eat and were pleased we did as it was a very popular spot. We were given the option to sit inside or outside and chose the latter, We ordered a variety of tapas which was brought out promptly. We especially enjoyed the calamari and bacalao. There was a little misunderstanding where the sautéed squid was brought out rather than the friend squid. The waiter apologised and brought out the correct dish after a short period of time. The dishes were very reasonable and it is definitely somewhere we would eat again if visiting Cordoba.

Great food, great service, great price .

Super place for food and drink, no space outside when we arrived but very helpful staff sat us inside with a drink whilst we waited. Sure enough 10 minutes later we were sat in the sun. We had bread, mixed cheese, meatballs, sangria, deserts and coffee for €45, great food, great service, great price !

We had booked a table as this restaurant has a very good reputation so our hotel recommended us to do so. Upon arriving, we were met by someone who looked like the manager or the person in charge. He was hardly polite and warned us that our table was again booked at 9:30pm, meaning we better be out by then! It all changed when the server Dave attended to us. He was extremely kind and professional. We ate ouside by the road which was quite busy that night as there was some kind of religious procession which attracted both locals and tourists. We ordered Tapas style dishes which were all very nice and tasty. The Salmorejo, a local speciality like a thick Gazpacho was particularly flavourful. All in all an excellent experience with the exception of our first encounter.
