Location Just off Barefoot Alley in the Altstadt. Lovely room with lots of light. Some outdoor tables in the front. Food & Drink We ordered several different tapas - prawns (€13.90), salmon (€8.90), potatos in 2 different salsas (€4.90), garlic mushrooms (€5.90). Goats cheese with honey (€5.90) Portion size was as you would expect from tapas. Food quality was consistently good. Chilli level was v mild. I would have a preference for a bit more seasoning. We drank Verdejo. Bottle was €29.90. Water was (€6.90) Overall Lovely room with great service. Definitely pricey when compared to other restaurants in Leipzig. Wine was particularly expensive

Nice and simple Spanish tapas

We had a nice meal, tasty tapas, good service and friendly atmosphere. Is this a tourist place? Sure but... so what? Our kids and dog enjoyed very much Suggestion: Include some Pacharan in the digestives menü ;-)

Great Spanish Restaurant in Leipzig

Excellent Spanish food in great setting. We went with our 12 year old daughter and enjoyed about 9 different tapas. The plates are small so plan accordingly. I highly recommend the bacon wrapped dates, lamb, and sausage/chorizo with lentils. It was a welcome change after many days of German food and a better representation of Spain than we typically get back in the States.

Could do a lot better

We didn’t enjoy our meal. We had the mixed grill (meat) and the mixed fish plate. The food came very quickly, within five minutes after ordering. That means it can’t be prepared fresh. You could tell that: the veggies were not warm enough. Even worse. The fish was undercooked (the salmon at some places nearly raw). For us no more cafe Madrid.

Terrible service

Even though we booked in advance, there was no table ready for us when we arrived. They improvised a table for us out of the outdoor tents on a rainy day — the only one without a tent. It didn't make sense because it was 5:00 pm and the restaurant was almost empty. We left before starting because we didn't feel comfortable with the waiter's attitude.

Efficient and delicious

It’s a large space with several tables outside. Nevertheless, the service was extremely efficient, helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. Being a large space with high ceilings, it tended to be rather loud making conversation a little difficult. A popular place.

Stale and cold tapas

Tapas were immediately at our table. We got vegetarian mix with mix of few meat tapas. Food was stale and cold. Everything prepared with the butter to boost taste. Disappointing. Service was ordinary.

Excellent service and atmosphere, food was great. But most of all and I find this very rare now, the staff actually seemed happy! Outside area to the rear, was nice to have drinks after the meal.

Tapas in Germany for when u can’t get the real thing

Excellent tapas and drinks! A good variety considering we are in Germany. The food quality was great and dessert - churros was awesome! We reserved online and it worked great! Strongly recommend if u r stuck in Germany and can’t travel to Spain for the real thing.

The photos don’t do it justice...

The photos don’t do it justice... The interior looks much better than the photos. Having said that, well, my overall experience was less than excellent. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things... but the Gazpacho was excellent. Nothing recent to compare it to, and this was a bit creamier than I expected, but the flavors were there with just the right amount of spice. Well done. I also went with the Andalucia mixed platter. Forgetting that it was really enough for at least 2, overall everything was wayyyyy too salty. And I matched it all with a red Rioja. I believe the Crianza...? Anyway, the costlier of the bunch. It was actually very good, but served too warm. The waiter offered to chill it a bit, but not knowing what that might entail, I stuck with it, especially as the air temperature was cooler than the wine. Now... the real point of irritation was when I first arrived. Yes, the outdoor places were full, but I asked if it would be possible to nevertheless sit outside. The person handling the newcomers simply replied no. Not a, “it’ll be about a [ ] minute wait, or something a bit more helpful. Just a curt, flat”no”. Really annoying. Generally, my take away was that, like with most places in the heart of a tourist district, it was high on the look, but lacking in the substance. Certainly there are better options.
