Detailed Reviews

This place gets five stars because my husband and daughter would give it ten stars. I would likely give it four overall but when my people are happy I am happy. This is the type of place you choose if you are not too high maintenance and you do not require all the pampering of a normal five star hotel. You stay because you want to live for a few days as if you are a native of the country and want to experience how it would be like to live in a funky apartment in a cool neighborhood. It is not cheap.

The Neve Tzedek Hotel is centrally located in the Neve Tzedek neighborhood which is a very old neighborhood with charming old houses and narrow streets. The bad about the neighborhood is the constant construction that is part of the gentrification. There was some construction next door and one morning there was drilling in front of the hotel first thing in the morning (did not last long but woke us up). The great about the neighborhood is that it is full of charming stores, cafes, ice cream stands, and hip restaurants. Really wonderful place to visit for a few days.

The Hotel is across the street from a public parking area. I know this sounds awful but it is actually super convenient if you have rented a car. Parking on the streets is impossible so it is quite nice to have the lot right by the hotel. The Hotel looks like they formed their rooms from several old houses. The renovation looks like it was done by a very enthusiastic artist. It is rough urban chic. Clearly, the emphasis was not on getting it perfect but on getting it looking creative. For example, an old barrel is used to form a sink. Some of the old metal closures on the windows in the bathroom do not have a good seal. It is possible insects could find their way in but, to be fair, I did not see a single insect in the room.

We are a family of four and I believe our room was number 2. You are let in by one of the staff and given a key and breakfast vouchers. You rarely see any staff for the rest of the stay (which is fine with me). To get to our room we climbed one short staircase and our door was to the left. Do not expect a bellman for your bags. They had not noticed our reservation was for four so the pull out couch bed was not prepared. She immediately had someone come to prepare it. I was disappointed that two of us were going to sleep on a couch bed rather than a normal one. For the price they charge they should make it clear that if more than two are staying the rest will be on a pull out. The actual two staying on it didn't mind. We always ask for no air freshener. There were awful smelling incense reeds in a vase that she removed for me. Instead, she brought in a vase with a nice bouquet of flowers. I also asked for a larger garbage can and got one.

The place feels like you are staying at the apartment of your artist friend. On the upper level as you walk in is the living room (in which the pull out couch is located). It is average sized. The couches look a bit on the garage sale/estate sale variety. There is a tv and an air conditioning unit which is necessary in the hot summers there. There are also some games which my little son enjoyed. You walk down stairs and there is a tiny seating area and a sink and small fridge. The fridge has free drinks and a bottle of wine. You have the ability to make tea and coffee and there are a few nice snacks. There is free WiFi (not a given in all hotels) which my teen daughter was thrilled about.

On that level is the bathroom. It is large. There is a huge funky shower with good water pressure, funky sink and normal toilet (on which I found a hair when we entered and was not happy about that). The products are good but are in refillable glass pump containers. This turned out to be a problem for one of us since the glass got slippery and fell out of the hand onto the tiles in the shower and broke. The towels were nice for the most part but I did find stains on two of them. Unacceptable. The strangest thing about the bathroom is the privacy issue. There is no door. There is a curtain between the bathroom and the other area. I prefer a door. There is a huge window by the shower towards the living area. While there are blinds I could not figure out how to close them. Who needs a window into the room from the shower? Also, the windows in the bathroom facing the outside garden are not covered and there are neighbors who could potentially look in from above if they tried. Not a huge deal but if you are a prude beware.

Outside of the bathroom is a glass door to the outside garden area. There is a cute little garden in which we unfortunately spent no time. There is also a white jacuzzi bathtub outside for those wanting that type of entertainment. There is a good curtain covering up this glass door so the light doesn't bother you in the morning.

Down another bit of stairs is the basement bedroom. Everything is painted white. The bed is comfortable and the bedding is clean and nice. They provide bathrobes and slippers if you need them. I believe that there is another air conditioning unit there too. I do not recall seeing a phone anywhere in the apartment.

A nice feature are the breakfast vouchers to Ditushka (Ditas). See my review of that restaurant. At first they didn't give us the correct amount of vouchers but immediately corrected their mistake. The restaurant is super close walking distance to the hotel. I really enjoyed the breakfasts there and it made the overall experience very nice.

We would strongly encourage you to try this hotel. My family loved it and would be very happy to return. Final note: the statement on your credit card will not state "the Neve Tzedek Hotel" it will state something like Rimon Reservations. They work through another company for billing.

The positives - fantastic location right on a lovely side street (I mean you open the door to your room and there is the street!) in a fantastic area of Tel Aviv. All kinds of restaurants and shops, Jaffa is a fairly short walk, and 15 minute walk (or less) to the beach. Nice good sized room.

The other - incredibly difficult to find and that was with 4 people and two GPS's. Luckily two nice people helped us out after they phoned the owner. Also, Wi-Fi in room did not work. When I called the owner she didn't seem to care much.

The Neve Tzedek is not for everyone but we loved staying there. If you are looking for a full service hotel with all of the amenities (business center, concierge, bell hops, room service etc.), you will not be happy here and I encourage you to stay somewhere else. However, if you are the type of traveler who prefers living in a real neighborhood, being independent, having a large, charming, well appointed room, privacy, and a great location, then this may be the place for you.

I read the prior posting and my impression is that they expected a full service hotel and felt misled by the hotel. Both the website and the hotel (when we made our reservation) clearly disclosed that breakfast was served at a restaurant apart from the hotel (which was delicious by the way). The hotel also notified us prior to staying there of the hours during which breakfast was available. Like the prior poster, our schedule one day required us to miss breakfast. However, unlike him or her, we didn't ask for a deduction to our room bill and wouldn't have expected it. I didn't notice that the room didn't have a telephone (probably because we travel with a local phone). I also found our room to be very quiet and I am a very light sleeper. It was also equipped with a hair dryer and had complimentary bottled water, juices, soft drinks, coffee, tea etc. Wi-fi was also included. We found the photos on the website to be accurate.

The hotel is located in a wonderful area. Neve Tzedek is charming and one can walk to the beach, Jaffa, Rothschild and pretty much everywhere except the most northern area (the Port, Palmach museum etc.)

The bottom line is that if we are lucky enough to return to Tel Aviv, the Neve Tzedek hotel would be our first choice for our stay.

The name of this establishment is misleading. It is not a hotel. Rather, it is a serviced studio style apartment.
None of the services one would expect of a hotel at this price range are available. No reception [no staff after 4.00pm]; no phones in the room; no bedside reading lights, no hairdryer,[one was provided on request after a day's delay] no work area, no breakfast on the premises.

The room itself is large, stylish and bright with a small balcony overlooking a carpark. Soft drinks and a bottle of wine were provided, but not the other amenities the website suggests. Although the room itself was restful, there is considerable aircraft noise throughout day and night [no compensating double-glazing] .

The rate is inclusive of breakfast. However, be warned. Breakfast is a 10 minute walk away in a local restaurant, and then only available after 9.30am [not specified on the website] The hotel is completely inflexible on this. They refused a request for a 9.00 am breakfast [we had to make an early start], and refused to give a credit for the breakfasts missed. The email reply to a polite enquiry regarding this matter was dismissive.

Overall an unsatisfactory and disappointing experience made worse by the lack of professionalism and customer care by the management.

We rented the garden apartment, which was 1500 NIS. The apartment looked amazing. A lot of design was put into it. It felt like it was not really maintained before we came. Towels had holes in them. Thee were only two towels. Bath robe had a huge tear in it. The TV had no remote. The hot tub out side was not cleaned at all. Aside of a few leaves, and lack of cover on top, it had dust all over showing it wasn't cleaned for a while.
The shower looks unreal, really amazing, but finding hair in its center where the water drains, felt....
The hotel is loca Ted at the edge of neve tseve and not in its center.

Just about the perfect mix if you want something out of the regular with personality and genuine feeling. The room I stayed in, think it was the garden room, had the feel of an apartment, which I guess it once was. The small garden was appreciated. Will definitely return. Well situated as well, the area is great for strolling around and got one of the most interesting collections of street art I've ever seen. A gem.

Our family of 5 stayed at the Neve Tzedek hotel for 3 nights in July 2012.We absolutely loved it and wished we could have stayed longer. The location was perfect for our needs and we enjoyed staying in a small boutique hotel rather than an unfriendly 5 star hotel with no character. The hotel is styled so beautifully and the breakfasts were incredible. The beach across the road,Jaffa 5 minutes away, incredible restaurants within walking distance and very helpful owners all made our stay so perfect. We cannot wait to return.Thank you.

Located in romantic Neve Tzedek neighborhood. The studio was spacious, well designed and equipped. Jacuzzi which is located in the garden is far from being secluded, on the contrary from what presented in web site.
After a quick look around we have found that Jacuzzi and toilet aren't clean. Jacuzzi was filled with leaves and bugs. It was obvious that it wasn't in use for some time. The toilet had "traces" from previous guests.
I've phoned to get service. It was explained to us that apartment was cleaned and our request to clean the room was ignored. I've phoned again a few times, but nobody answered. Before leaving next morning, I've phoned again and you can guess, nobody answered.
On the bright side, complementary breakfast was very good.
