Our rooms were lovely - the chandeliers over the beds are so exquisite! The rooms were clean, with plenty of room. There were breakfast 'bags' (we did not get one as we had other plans) and the hotel restaurant was open for dinner with a limited menu due to Covid). I would suggest adding a few vegetarian options to the menu, which would have been very helpful for us. The only thing I would improve is the temperature control in the rooms. Both of our rooms were stuck at 77 degrees, which was very warm for sleeping (despite us setting them for A/C at 60). The desk employees were unfailingly kind and helpful. The location is very convenient to walking along Fall St. and visiting shops and restaurants. I brought my adult daughter here for a 'special' hotel experience, and she loved it!

We stayed 2 nights at The Gould Hotel. We were in room 111.
It had a king bed, TV, A/C, desk and chair, a couch, a safe, but no fridge.
It had an iron and ironing board, and since it was a handicap room, it only had a shower in the bathroom.
There was a chandelier in the room, and a very fancy full length mirror.
The staff was friendly.
There was a slow elevator right next to the stairs.

But the staff did not communicate all the information they should have.
The dining room was closed except on the weekends (which ruled it out for us).

Both of our keys didn't work after the first day. We had to get them reprogrammed again.

Because of the Covid-19 situation, they only clean the room when you leave. They didn't tell us this when we checked in, and when we found our room uncleaned when we returned at night, we tried to call the front desk to complain. That's when we found out our phone didn't work either.
The maid does leave a basket outside the door with a couple of towels in it. We thought she was just pre-positioning supplies for later, but obviously that was not the case.

They didn't tell us about the grab and go breakfast bags, so we missed breakfast the first day. And only discovered them, as they were telling somebody else about them.

They did tell us to park in back of the hotel, as you would get a ticket if you parked overnight on the side of the hotel.

There was no ice machine. You had to go to the front desk, and they had to go into the kitchen to get ice.

The location of the hotel is great, close to everything, but the lack of information given to us at check-in turned us off.

My husband and I brought our dog with us to explore the Finger Lakes for 2 nights in August. The hotel is in a great location, has ample parking, and it's nestled in the heart of Seneca Falls. The room was very clean, our bathroom must have been newly renovated because it was perfect (I now have bathroom envy in my own home!) They have a good system set up to deal with Covid, and they were very helpful at the front desk. The dog loved it as much as we did.

Two minor critiques: The bed was really comfortable, but it's very high. I am a petite woman and I had to practically hoist myself into the bed every night. There are no black-out shades, and while this wouldn't be an issue in winter, if you are in an east-facing room it is very bright and hard to sleep in.

I would love to go back, and explore more of the Finger Lakes and spend time in the museums of Seneca Falls post-Covid, and I'd definitely stay here again as would the dog.

We were supposed to do a trip to Alaska this year to celebrate our 35th! Unfortunately due to Covid we have been isolated in western New York. Decided it was time to venture out and having never explored the Finger Lake region, our first stop was Seneca Falls the Gould hotel. Couldn’t have been happier. The room was a wonderful size, I think bigger than my first apartment! Really nice bathroom with two sinks walk in shower and windows that open to give you a little air in case you don’t want air-conditioning. Living room and a bedroom! Unfortunately the restaurant wasn’t open. But they had a nice bag breakfast that got our day started with yogurt, granola, fruit, a muffin, water and coffee.
Applaud them for being “green” with towel usage, wish they would also provide a recycling trash can and use sustainable not styrofoam coffee cups. Other than that a 10 experience.

We stayed here for 2 days while exploring the finger lakes. Very nice staff and rooms as well. Just as pictures show. During the pandemic we had breakfast bags. And a small dinner menu was available for hotel guests only on Friday and Saturday. But it was a nice quiet location for our stay. 45 minutes from Watkins Glen park and 30 from Taughannock park. Kayaking on the lake was awesome! And all the winery you can imagine

This hotel is dirty and dilapidated. Expected a beautiful, clean and enjoyably serene visit but this was no where that. Found a large box AC unit on the floor next to our bed in our bedroom, exhaust tube out the window with cardboard filling in the rest of the window. Windows are not soundproof. Street construction on ALL four corners outside the hotel, told by the workers it will be one more year. You can hear the street crossing machine loud and clear, counting down the seconds to cross. Housekeeping is request only, but you have ask at the desk each day, if you can find a staff person at the desk. Clean rooms iffy at best. Continental breakfast is lame. Parking in front of hotel with 1-6am gets you a ticket. You need to park on the side. No one can give you advice on sights, restaurants, historic locations. You need to go across the street to the Visitors Center. For what I was charged, this was a rip off.

We spent a night here recently after a day of wine tasting along Cayuga. The hotel had friendly staff and vibrant decor that did not disappoint. We booked the Queen Suite, which offered a decent-sized living room, bedroom, and bathroom. The room also had a mini-fridge and microwave. The entire space was extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable. There was some noise from the street below, but it was manageable. The restaurant was not in operation due to covid, but there were restaurant options within walking distance. They also provided a bagged "breakfast" (muffin, yogurt/granola, water and orange).
We had a great experience and felt the price was extremely reasonable given the large size of our room. We highly recommend this hotel to others!

We've just returned from an enchanting visit to the Gould Hotel. From beginning to end it was delightful: friendly and helpful staff, particularly Megan who answered all our questions and even found our lost credit card. We were delighted to find the up to date renovations incorporated the historical details, including the chandeliers in each room. The location was perfect.
Unfortunately, there was one very big problem The accessibility ramp ended at a very heavy door with no automatic opener. hence, person with a disability, particularly a wheelchair user, could get to the entrance but not enter.
I look forward to returning to the Gould, and will give it an enthusiastic five stars when this situation is rectified.

This hotel is just adorable and a fantastic value! The choice of fun, eclectic furniture and fixtures combined with exposed painted ductwork is really fun. The king suite was amazingly spacious and had a pull out sofa for our teenagers. The location in town can’t be beat- you can walk to restaurants and shops and along the riverside on a lighted walkway. Unfortunately, due to covid, the hotel restaurant is closed but Parkers and 84Fall are open and offer takeout (which was fabulous!). We will definitely be back after covid when hopefully everything is back open.

The newly renovated Gould Hotel in Seneca Falls, New York, was a delight. The bed, comforter and pillow selections made for the most comfortable night of sleep on this road-trip where we stayed in other top flight hotels in Ithaca and Niagara on the Lake. At first the sofa at the end of the bed seemed an odd choice but it fit the room well. The bathroom was fully appointed and, in the room where we stayed, the walk-in shower was welcomed.

:-) Interesting point, but I think the real answer is Friday and Saturday they get the most business for their restaurant, (and they seemed to be a bit understaffed).

Is this hotel near the wine trail and if so, are there shuttles available?
Answer from mei946
Rochester, New York102 contributions8 helpful votes
You can rent a car with a driver from wine trail company. Hotel is close to Cayuga lake. Normally rent a whole day and you could visit up to 6 wineries depending on how long you stay on each winery. Wineries’ open hour are 10-5, summer time close at 6. Or contact with Gould hotel they have wine tour packages. Or some people hire taxi and tell taxi driver what wineries they want to go.
