A girls trip in October this resort was perfect. Secluded but not too off the beaten path. Wineries within walking distance, amazing views of the vineyards and footsteps from lake - literally! The outdoor pool is the perfect warm temperature and hot tub is perfect ( we could even bring plastic glasses down to the pool). Enough bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen to hold 6 comfortably and up to 8. Kitchen appliances, dishes, towels, bedding all provided and more you could ask for! Very clean, very grand effect. This resort really topped our girls trip in the Fall. Highly recommend for whatever your needs may be - family, friends or couple get away.

This has been our 3rd year back. Our first was a unit on the 2nd level facing the pool, 2nd year was a 3 bedroom ground level facing pool, ground level was much more convenient with the little ones but the unit was located over the geothermal operating system (at least that is what we were told) and the unit was extremely hot. Fans in living room and master bedroom were provided. We also found it to be a noisy rowdy location. We did get a reimbursement of part of our weekly rate for the inconvenience. We were told that the cooling systems were going to be fixed in the fall, fast forward to spring of 2014 and we are now searching for a resort in the Kelowna area. The three bedroom unit has not had their cooling system repaired, we did take a unit away from the pool with no afternoon sun, temp was 72 inside but we were again told the complex was going to have a overhaul of their heating and cooling system. We loved the location of the unit we stayed in this summer but had problems with the cable TV, burned out lights , limited kitchen supplies (compared to other units) no inside lock on outside door to help prevent toddlers from opening up and wondering outside. I also think that more attention should be paid in throughly cleaning between stays. I actually mopped and washed the floor after finding that it had not been dusted under the couches and along the baseboards after looking for a toy. Lamps etc also had not been dusted in some time.It is still a far improvement from the little cottages we use to stay in when we first started coming to Kelowna. The Cove now sits where we use to holiday. As luxurious as The Cove is I find it very highly priced and in my opinion does not project the true experience of what lake life is all about. I would be hard pressed to recommend Barona Beach to anyone as I think we are very tolerant and don't know that the next person would be. If the geothermal would be fixed I would not hesitate to recommend it. The rest is at least tolerable and could be met at any resort.

This is my second time staying at Barona Beach. We wont be returning again. Great location, great pool and nice location for kids. The main issue we have is the poor sound quality of the building. (unit to unit sound/noise) If the unit you are in happens to have people above you, its likely going to be noisy. (this is if they are regular quiet people...not even of the partying sort!) If they have children, it will literally be painful! You can hear walking, running, bouncing balls, crying and banging just like you are in the same room.

Another thing to query before renting would be with regards to air conditioning. There are some issues with A/C ours did get resolved.

I rented here in the Autumn and I wish I had stayed somewhere else. The place looks like the photos. Very beautiful and in a great location. Keep in mind that most places in West Kelowna are great locations. The strata and management were terrible. We spent over 8 days without water. These things happen but the issue could have been managed better. This happened on 3 separate occasions! The strata rules, politics, management and owners make this a place to avoid. Children were not welcome despite any warning about this. Charges for strata bylaw infractions are a money grab. They spent no time trying to resolve or solve issues. They would charge individuals for perceived infractions based on ownership and favoritism. Stay here if you don't mind going somewhere else to use a toilet and stepping in dog poo while being charged for rule infractions like drying a towel on a balcony while surrounded by a beautiful lake and pretentious snobs. Quiet time is not 11pm - 7am despite what they say.

This is a nice West Kelowna location away from the noise. Some condos need updating as they are privately owned. It is a great location for walks and right on a private beach, close to the highway for easy access to other areas in the valley

Great location and accommodations - plus the hosts were amazing!

Family vacation with my 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. The unit was perfect for all of us as was the resort.
Shannon was awesome to deal with and very thoughtful and considerate.

Great for family vacations!

Honestly, Barona Beach should have a reality T.V. Show. My first impression of the resort was that it was breathtakingly beautiful, situated 30 feet from Lake Okanagan. After deciding that this would be the perfect place to live, a lease was signed. The "dream" was short lived, as the politics surrounding Barona Beach began to unfold. The Strata created countless "rules" that are only ever enforced to vacation and short term renters. No dogs allowed... anywhere! Not on the grass, common area, landscaped area or beach. If you are seen violoating one of these "bylaws" a $200 fine will be issued. This is not the only "bylaw" to be weary of the list is extensive and ridiculous and I strongly suggest reading this before you ever consider renting or buying. Keep in mind it seems these bylaws are only enforced to renters, as a common sight is members of strata in complete disgreed for these "laws".
Police also seem to frequent this establishment as it has a dirty history with some members of society that you probably do not want to be associated with.
The pool is nice, but similiar to an all inclusive resort in the sense that you pretty much need to wake up early to ensure a seat, it is packed, and noisy.
The units are nice, however there always seems to be a problem with the geothermal system, this will ensure cold winters with your heat kicking in and out, and hot hot summers (no a/c).
Parking is probably the most annoying part of this "resort", charging more than you would in a metropolitsn city. For $15/day, $90/week or $400/month, you have the pleasure of parking in a unpaved, dirt pit.
For the price, you might as well stay at The Delta Grand, where you have a restaurant, vallet and all the ammenties you should for the price.
For long term renters, I would reccomend "The Cove" where I currently live and absolutely love!
I would never reccomend this place to anyone. Its a shame that the strata members have ruined a beautiful building and location. Shame.

My husband and I were here in a furnished rental for a a few months. The units were pretty standard for Kelowna, but plagued by problems around the place that are scary to say the least. With a miss-managed property like this including a water breakage that lasted more than a week, two days of that with out any water, maintenance staff that would rather sweep the walk ways than make sure your unit door can lock, and facilities renovations that don't ever seem to end, this so called 5 star resort is far from the truth. If you're looking for a relaxing vacation, this isn't the place.

I recently spent a year at Barona Beach renting out a unit. The location is nice, being on the lake with some great views. But that's about as far as the positive feedback goes. When I first arrived to Barona, the exterior brought back memories of some relaxing Italian villa and things looked very promising. The complex emitted and image that suggested luxury, quietness and simple relaxation. Unfortunately, this was the furthest from the truth.

Walking into the units you are greeted with what looks like very nice finishing...granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, dark floors, open layouts but a closer look reveals things were built quite poorly. Cheap finishings (cupboards, dinner tables, chairs, appliances etc) that pick up every scratch and dent. Apparently the furnishing options for the units was very limited and generic at the time of construction and suffer from the same uncomfortable, awkward sofas, chairs etc. Trying to keep the unit free of dust was a challenge with the ventilation system...one day all your surfaces would be clean...the next they all had a healthy layer of dust collecting on them. For a complex which is supposed to be constructed of concrete...every noise from your neighbors could be heard. And in the summer when lots of guests fill up the rental units, loud music could always be heard from your guests above and to each side.

The amenities are nothing to boast about. The gym is something to laugh at with cheap equipment shoved in a cold room as an afterthought with very little atmosphere. The common room always sits empty...probably because it is a large space that isn't the least bit inviting. The pool and hot tub are average. They can be nice if you can beat the crowds or don't mind sharing an 8 person hot tub with 15 other drunk idiots in the summer time. For a complex that charges its owners upwards of $500/month in maintenance fees I though maybe a little more effort would be put into making the grounds more accommodating and offering a few more amenities. Instead, the money goes to security guards that sleep at the front desk or tell you not to park at the front entrance as you try and unload your groceries.

In short, the complex is way over priced, noisy, cheap and not worth all the hype.

This whole review may sound very negative, but honestly there are not many positive things to say about this not so high end complex. If I had known about these downfalls prior to signing a one year lease I would have rented somewhere else. I just want to give anyone who may be thinking of renting or purchasing a place here a heads up...don't make the same mistake I did. Do your homework first! You will get much more value for your money else where.

Stayed with wife in #5313 for a week at about $2000/week late June early July 2014. We were sandwiched between three noisy, classless, alcoholic families that overtook our end of the resort. No security on site. Puking outside our unit. Dock and beach full of duck crap, not usable. Beer cans in plants around building. Common areas in desperate need of cleaning. Elevator a mile away and six flights of stairs to our unit. Our unit BBQ and deck not well kept and very dirty ie dusty and spider webs. Appliances are very basic in unit and you need an engineering degree to operate thier coffee pot. Inside unit was relatively clean and owners were available for contact but who wants to call complaining about all of the above. Try the Cove down the street because the Barona strata is a massive going concern and not vacation worthy especially if you have kids because there is also nothing to walk to. Everything is get in your car and go battle traffic (highway 97) for an hour to get a coffee or kids treat. Do not waste your hard earned money here.

Response from Tracey_55556, Owner at Barona Beach Lakefront Resort
Responded Jul 10, 2014
Thank you for sharing your feedback and we are very sorry your stay at Barona Beach did not meet your expectations. We pride ourselves on being very responsive property managers, and were saddened that you did not let us know sooner that your stay was being disrupted by noisy neighbours. While these occurrences are rare, we aim to act as quickly as possible and as we were initially unaware of your concerns, were unable to do so. Once we learned of the disruptive behaviour, we of course acted as fast as possible, contacting security as well as the management team. We also let the the owners of the offending noisy units know what was happening so they could address it directly with their disruptive tenants. While it is not our typical policy, we refunded the majority of your stay as you had decided to leave early, despite our efforts to address all of your concerns. This was the first time we had experienced issues with noisy tenants, or renters terminating their stay early, and it was a surprise and disappointment for us to hear of this too. We will replace our coffee pot for future renters and thanks for letting us know it was confusing to operate! All the appliances are KitchenAid, stainless steel and are mid-range or higher in quality. The grounds are cleaned and maintained daily, however, we will pass on your comments to the cleaning team. Many families have stayed and find the location very accessible to all amenities. Coffee shops and shopping are 2.3 km away but yes, you do need to drive to them as the terrain is hilly. Most beach-front locations, besides staying downtown, require some driving for shopping or dining but certainly not an hour’s drive. Many wineries are within walking distance. We understand that the bulk of your concerns were with noisy, disruptive neighbours. These were exceptional circumstances, and every action has been taken to address this concerning issue. Again, we are deeply sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. If there is anything further that we can do to repair this unfortunate situation, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly. Sincerely, Tracey

There are winery restaurants within a 10 min drive. Not sure about pubs. It is on the opposite side of the lake from the kelowna city centre. Maybe 15 to 20 mins driving.
