Old school Tyrol motel, well maintained, great location for access to powder days at WH2O, super nice people running the place. We drove across the country to be here and stayed in many chain hotels along the way - here are the essentials we appreciate that the Alpine has - super clean, nice linens and mattress, good movie channels, no noisy window heater, and the fridge was very quiet.

Our nonsmoking room was recently remodeled. The small, clean kitchenette contained everything we needed for cooking and cleaning and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was also updated though some discoloring was starting to form in the grout. Providing information about restaurants and Whitewater ski area the front desk people were very friendly and helpful
All rooms open to the parking lot and a chair sits adjacent to most doors which is a convenient place to sit and chat or smoke.
The website design makes it difficult for both the motel and guests to determine if discounts were applied.

We were so happy we chose this hotel. It is the perfect distance from all the great restaurants downtown; the uphill walk home was just what we needed to work off the great food we ate!
We chose a jacuzzi suite and it was adorable. They have a nice little picnic table a few feet away with a gorgeous viewpoint and an ashtray so my hubs could have a ciggie without feeling like a pariah. We really loved our short stay and would choose it again in a heartbeat!

By the time we unloaded our bags, there was not a lot of space to move around the room. It felt very small and constricted for two people. A nice spot, good location. Coffee machine was in the bathroom, which is an unsual spot to want to make coffee. Also placed with the coffee was the soap pods and shampoo. Hopefully everyone knows the difference.

We stayed in a two queen suite with a kitchen. The room was clean (for the most part) and the AC was blowing cold when we entered on a hot day. Unfortunately, one of the knobs was missing on the AC unit and we had a difficult time turning it down. The secondary lock on the door looked like it had been kicked off and the mattresses have seen better days. When we tried to use the dishes in the kitchenette, we found they were filthy with caked on food and opted to use our own paper plates instead. We noticed a few spots where paint had been scraped off the walls as well. None of these issues would be surprising in a budget motel, but we expect more from a 200/night stay. Given that most of our issues could have been easily fixed with a trip to the hardware store and a few minutes work, one has to wonder about the level of attention here. A shame, as the room had clearly been updated and the place had a lot going for it.

PROS: The reception desk clerk was very nice and helpful. The family suite was a nice size. CONS: We had reserved the family suite so we could have the 2 bedrooms. You had to be careful not to trip upon going up the stairs to the" suite" because of an add-on at the bottom of the stairs. Upon entering the room, you are hit with the smell of an old stuffy building which gave the feeling of being dirty (although it was very clean). The kitchen appliances are outdated but, I assume, functional. The location was advertised as being 2 minutes from town. Not mentioned is that it is up the hill from town which meant an easy walk down but a tough one returning. We were not very happy with the accommodation so we cancelled the remaining 2 nights. We moved to the Best Western on Baker Street which was fantastic.

Such a cute, quaint motel with all kinds of style. The room was a suite and very contemporary and immaculate. Everything was well stocked and nothing missed. It was recently remodeled and they did a very good job. The manager was a very nice lady who went out of her way to provide information for me regarding tourist attractions. The location is a little tricky to find if you don't know where it is at first but once you know where it is; it is so easy to get anywhere including downtown Nelson. It is basically approximately 4 blocks away from downtown. The fact that it is a little tricky to find at first is because it is tucked away in such a beautiful side street area which is part of its charm.

This is a standard, older style motel room. Clean and roomy but plain and ordinary in most if not all other aspects. The king sized bed looked a bit worn but it was comfortable. Of particular note is the very considerate staff. Those I met there were very welcoming, thoughtful and most importantly, kind.
Alpine Inn and suites is located reasonably close to the downtown area and the walk to and from is interesting as it unlocks some of the beauty that the changes in Nelson has seen.

5 star because of how well the room met our needs. Staff were very friendly. It was nice to have beds in separate rooms. Kitchen was nice and even had good lighting. Rooms were surprisingly quiet for a motel. Had a/c in main room only. Beds were so comfy and pillows and towels were really good. Good kitchen and utensils.
Only suggestions: in a hotel/motel, I prefer a dish cloth and towel that can be washed after every guest instead of a brush that who knows where it has been. It would have been nice to have some tea bags and a box of Kleenex.

If you’re looking for a nice, comfy and clean place to stay in Nelson this is definitely the go to!! I stay here weekly for work and it’s truly like a home away from home. They treat me like absolute GOLD!! The afternoon fella Christopher is an absolute gem! Very respectful and professional dude who treats all guests like Royalty (from what I’ve seen). It doesn’t get any better then this! The lovely boss lady Sylvia is a gem! Anytime I call to book a room it’s the easiest most painless process and I can’t thank you enough!!! You two and this place are amazing and I will always book here while working in Nelson!!

Answer from Alpineinnandsuites
Nelson, Canada
Hello Callie, There should be enough parking available that no-one has to park elsewhere besides buses, semi-trucks etc. Parking can get tight sometimes in the summer but there are enough parking spots. Especially in the winter. Don't worry about asking for an updated room as suggested in one of the latest reviews. All rooms are updated to the same extend (June 2016) besides carpets and kitchens. Go to "rooms and rates" on our website and click on the individual room-types. It will show you some photos of that particular room-type. The walk to Baker street is very doable in summer as well as in most winter days. After some fresh snow you might want to consider driving into town or take a cab but I would say that one can walk at least 9 out of 10 times in the winter.
