We were not in the best of spirits when we arrived not realising Castilejos is a VERY long street and of course having approached it from the wrong end (it is close to the Sant Pau | Dos de Maig metro station for future reference). The reception staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble during our stay. The room we were given was very noisy and we managed to swap to a quieter, internal one with no fuss. We lost the balcony but gained peace. The breakfast is amongst the best I've ever had in a tourist hotel, so much choice with the bonus that it is served up to 11:00. The only complaint was the paper thin walls and noisy air con, light sleepers beware. But a great tourist hotel, spotlessly clean with fantastic staff and well placed for the metro/bus.

We chose this place for its location not far from La Sagrada Familia Temple and close to an underground station. Also there's a bus stop at the door of the hotel so it makes it easy to move around Barcelona.
The hotel doesn't have any spectacular feature but it's worth the money you pay for the service you get. Being a low-average three-star hotel the service and food (breakfast) is appropiate. The rooms (the one we had) are en-suite but not very spacious. The good thing, for sun lovers, is that they have a solarium at the rooftop with a hose/shower if you get overheated.
If you're looking for big rooms and fantastic breakfast don't go there, otherwise it's perfect for a non-fussy person...like us!

The hotel Medicis was very easy to find by simply following the directions from their website (http://www.smhoteles.com/en). It has direct connection to Estacio Sants (Metro line 5) where the airport train (R2) stops and from where one may also take the local train to Costa Brava. The Metro station (San Pau/Dos de Maig) is 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel. The bus 47 station for downtown -Catalunia Square is only 20 meters from the hotel while the Sagrada Familia can be reached by walking on Avinguda Gaudi in 10 -15 minutes.
Next to the hotel is the famous modernista style San Pau Hospital where the red touristic bus also stops.
Close to the hotel there are several supermarkets and there are plenty of small restaurants/snack bars around the hotel.
I had a single room: it was small, but nice, clean and comfortable. It was not at all as noisy as I expected after reading other reviews, so I could rest properly during the night. The breakfast was rather simple but good and sufficient for a good day start.
The reception staff were very nice and helpful, they provided me with maps, directions, advice.
In a nutshell, it was very good value for the money I spent and I would definitely stay again at this hotel if I ever return to beautiful Barcelona.

We just spent 4 nights in that hotel in Barcelona, not too far from the Sagrada Familia (one metro station or even better you can walk down Avenida Gaudi). The rooms are small with only a small TV, a hairdryer and a phone. Some of the floor tile is also a bit worn. However the furniture and linens are always impeccable. The walls are thin, but we did not have many problems with that. We could not hear the road too much either. Breakfast was good with enough selection so everyone can be happy. Best part is the staff. They are all multilingual and very friendly and helpful. i had an injury and required a magic bag to be reheated once in a while and they were more than happy to help. Upon arrival we were given the Barcelona summary with a complete map and directions by metro to everywhere we wanted to go. They even offered to help us with directions after we had checked out. All in all, I would recommend this hotel and would go back if I decide to return to Barcelona.

A well priced (mid-range) and perfectly located hotel. Each room has a balcony, large bathroom, flat screen and a very comfortable room. The hotel is walking distance to Park Guell (25 minutes) and Sagrada Familia (7 minutes) and a little further down the road you hit Gaudi’s famous houses and La Ramblas (45 minutes). Very friendly staff and free Wi-Fi. Can’t go wrong.

This was a nice hotel, modern and clean, decent beds. The room was exceptionally small I found, even by European standards, but still comfortable with a small balcony. I had read other reviews that mentioned poor sound-proofing and I thought I could handle it and surely it couldn't be THAT bad.... well, it is. You can hear every noise from the street, even people talking. I could hear the light switches in the next room being flicked on and off. The walls really are paper-thin. I would be hesitant to stay here again for that reason but at the same time the staff was great, it was clean and in a good location so maybe I would just bring earplugs next time.

The Hotel is well situated if you do not really want night life - several buses just around the corner, metro 5 min walk, near Hospital S. pau and sagarda Familia- abt 15 min walk. I had a single room - the size of a hole.( Watching the flat screen TV needs gymnastic training.) One single on each floor is squeezed in between double rooms. You can't have 2 single rooms on one floor. Bathroom needed maintenance .
Breakfast was very moderate, not what I was used to from other Best Western hotels.
Looking for place to just sleep at an acceptable price it isn't the worst choice.

I was amazed and delighted at the price/quality value of this hotel. I booked at the last moment and was more concerned about location than checking too much else. The price rather concerned me as I was expecting not much better than a hostel. WRONG!

An excellent value hotel, 5 minutes easy walk from the metro and 10 minutes to the centre on regular spotless underground train.

Walking distance to the Hospital San Pau and Sagrada Familia among other sites.

The rooms are SMALL but quite adequate, Terrific bar/café next door and the hotel wifi reaches there. I had 2 excellent evenings working away in the late summer heat.

It WILL be my preferred choice for Barcelona.

everything about this hotel is modest but done well.... very comfortable and safe slightly out of the central area but actually this is quite nice..... breakfast is nothing to get excited about but the illy coffee is a great way to start the day!!!!

located near the sagrada familia and some lovely street cafes/restaurants.....

small piece of advice.... get the train from the airport into the sants estacio and then get L5 to hospital sant pau... MUCH easier and half the cost of the bus....

A great hotel, traveling to the center of town is very easy as you can get a bus right outside the hotel it takes only about 20 minutes. The hotel is near the Gaudi area, great resturants near the hotel.

The hotel is very clean air con rooms, Clean towels evey day. Had breakfast at sister hotel round the corner, basic but filling.

I would recomend this hotel if you want a hotel that is of good value with no frills.
The rooms are a bit small and the walls thin. But dont let tis put you off.

The guys at the reception are very helpful. They know the local area and recomended some great local resturants.

Try the resturant QUEBEC on c/dagueria which is off LES Rambles off the main sq Catalunia I had a 2 course meal with a glass of wine for 12 euros. The resturant LA Galaera is a tiny bodega try it.its off Carrer ed GIGNAS
