The Grand Caymanian Resort is often praised for its cleanliness and spacious rooms that boast great views, though there are occasional remarks about the need for more kitchen provisions and larger towels. While the shuttle service and live music contribute to a relaxed atmosphere, especially appreciated during meals, opinions on the amenities, including beach chairs and the restaurant, are mixed, with some guests finding them unremarkable. Although the staff is generally regarded as helpful, the hotel's overall value is questioned by several travelers due to its location, dining options, and additional costs.

Grand Caymanian - 1302

Not our first stay at the grand Caymanian but previously stayed at the holiday Inn side.

Great location away from 7 mile beach so quiet. Looks like building is about to start adjacent to holiday Inn so look for things to start to change (I really hope they don't spoil this island. There appears to be a lot of high rise building syarting according to Cayman compass).

Room not quite up to scratch as we were intending to cook. A few minor things. In room ice maker didn't work; sink plug missing; no dish towels; toaster didn't work; rolling blind didn't work; no kettle; no steamer for veg. Ice was available on ground floor; used the stove as a kettle; we bought ourselves a steamer.

The balcony was great to have our meals on and also to dry our dive gear.

Kitchen stove and microwave excellent.

Bed was very comfortable and my wife is very picky on this.

Room very quiet and we asked for a quiet room.

We had a grocery delivery and they were great to allow delivery company access to the room before we arrived

Housekeeping Staff were excellent

Biggest issue was no dishwasher (the holiday Inn appt did have one). Also they need to convert the big pool toilets into a toilet and shower room. This would make late checkouts much easier for everybody. But to be fair, with a bit of prodding they did let us use a different room to shower off in.

There is a bus which you can book to get to the town. But we had a car which was easier.

We had a grocery delivery and they were great to allow delivery company access to the room before we arrived.

Overall, the frontline staff were friendly and very responsive. Room was outfitted with all I needed. Although, I found that the Filipino workers did the bare minimum when cleaning the room, unlike the Jamaicans who were far more thorough and pleasant. My biggest problem at this location was the stability of the Wi-Fi connectivity. Kept having to reconnect to the service every 5-10 minutes. And voice calls in the area was poor.

In a country that is distinguished by its ability to provide luxury (anonymous banks, no property tax, no income tax, no inheritance tax) this hotel distinguishes itself from others by falling short. First, let me say, that the staff is very nice, and did what they could to be helpful and accommodating. They have been placed in a stranglehold by the managing company. All the little things that you expect from a resort are missing. First, the location. Billed as “adjacent to Seven- Mile Beach,” it is actually on the other side of the island from said beach, and basically a 2-mile walk from the Grand Caymanian. The hotel provides a free shuttle over to that beach, but it only runs on the hour, and you have to reserve a space. And it ceases to operate after the 5 PM bus. So if you do not have a rental car (expect to pay top dollar) or want to pay the exorbitant taxi prices on the island, you had better bring your running shoes.

Now for the facility. There is only one restaurant that is moderately adequate, with prices of a more well-appointed one. The beach is small and mostly rocky with some sand added. The beach chairs have seen better days and if the hotel were fully booked, the number would be insufficient. The gift/incidentals shop is small and one pays for her purchase at the front desk. The pool towels are small for the purpose and not at all plush.

The room: Ours had only one trash can that we had to move from the kitchenette to the bathroom. The clock radio had to be unplugged because it randomly made a buzzing/static sound and couldn’t be used. There was no paper or pen for writing info when booking reservations for outings or dinner. The bathroom floor stayed damp and slippery even when running the fan after showering. The faucet in one sink had a hot side with barely any flow and a cold side that gushed, sending water all over the countertop. In a room with two queen beds there was just one round table and one chair for sitting (though each bed did have its own nightstand). The very tiny closet had hanging space that was made tinier by the encroachment of the hanging space of the hot water apparatus.

In short, if a deal sounds too good to be true, even if it is in the Caymans, I advise you to follow the old adage and spend a little more or don’t expect to get quite as much from your stay.

First of all, know that this 'resort' not only shares facilities with the Holiday Inn, it is essentially the same thing. The rooms are being offered as a time share, but don't expect much more than what you would get at HI. The resort staff were always very friendly and helpful and our room was clean enough (we had a great view of the golf course and sea from the 3rd floor), but it was like 'putting lipstick on a pig' - they were trying to have nicely appointed rooms, but missed the mark. The shower design was a bit baffling and meant a lot of water would end up on the floor. The bed was too soft for us with pillows that were too firm. Housekeeping was hit and miss, literally - we didn't get our room cleaned one day and some days we would get 1 hand towel replaced and some days none. The room safe never worked, even after reporting it 3 times. The Blue Iguana is the only restaurant on site and it was like eating at a Dennys - definitely not 'resort' food. We will not be repeat customers.

My friends and I were staying at the resort for the weekend during my wedding. We decided to order room service for breakfast and were told that room service was not available. What kind of hotel does not provide room service? Ok understood. We were told to order the food from blue iguana and then go collect it. We did that. When we got the food, the orders were mixed up. The food was tasteless, we did not have syrup for our pancakes. It just seemed like a rushed breakfast they threw together for us. We were not pleased to say the least. Would not recommend breakfast there, sorry.

Beware!! This is NOT a regular hotel. It is a time share, not a normal hotel. Rm 1119. We reserved a what we thought was a normal hotel and chose what was described as a hotel room “premium 1 br king view ocean view”. We got a 1st floor old dirty must room with yucky patio adjacent to wide gravel road overlooking ripped decrepit screening from golf course ( so balls don’t hit window)with ocean far beyond if you looked to the left. The better rooms were booked as time share. It is dirty, musty and old and we hear every word from adjoining room. It is nothing like the photo on their website. The 1st floor is musty and smelly with puffs of air freshener to try mask the odor. What a bait and switch. The bathroom counter is stained and dirty, the “ couch” has dirt on it & I am afraid to sleep on the bed. The fridge is leaking water inti kitchen floor. This is NOT a hotel. Beware. The front desk staff is divided someone for holiday Inn who had to call someone else who was from “ those rooms” ( post he name when I get it)
Apparently they deem the building in the middle a premium room because you can see the ocean in the distance. It is not called partial Oceanview, we booked premium ocean viewThe view is not the only problem. It is a hideously awful room.

I highly recommend staying at this resort if you're looking for a serene, peaceful stay. I'm not sure if the hotel was quiet because we came during an off season or if it's like that all the time, but it wasn't crowded at all and the beach and pool area had a few people each day. I would suggest renting a car if you stay here because the resort is not located on seven mile beach but it's a pretty quick drive away. The room is decent, like an average hotel room and the front desk is accommodating; we were able to check in a bit early and also ask for a late check out. We had a few drinks at the hotel restaurant but didn't get to try the food. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here.

Clean rooms, full kitchen, laundry ensuit.

Enjoyed the quiet view of the ocean and golf course. Felt like a home away from home. Since the food is expensive on the island, its nice to have the option to cook.

Would recommend renting a cooler ( you can bring it throughout the island). Trust me, you'll want a cooler

Front desk staff helpful and friendly.

Be warned, it takes 5 min to drive to the main road from the hotel. You will want to rent a car for the trip anyways, will not be a huge issue. They also have a shuttle if you do not rent a car.

10/10 would stay again

Listen , I’ve read thru all the reviews and quite frankly , some of the low scoring ones aren’t really fair . I’ve been coming to GC for about a decade now . I’m titanium with Marriott / Ritz ., stayed both places more than once
I’ve stayed at Kimpton, Westin, the condos at Caribbean Club ..etc .
All of those places have had room issues at more than double the cost to stay , Ritz quadruple the cost per night.
Staff issues run the gamut , as I could give you instances in all of those aforementioned places, with staff so out of touch and out of line , they should have been fired on the spot .
The beach on 7 mile has very few spots to date , that are glistening and inviting like in the day . Recent storms and erosion have altered it in many stretches , so it’s not exactly stellar .
The GC and HI are what they are . They don’t advertise as high end nor do they compete for that market segment .
The rooms and 2 bedroom villas in both places are adequate, and the staff , minus a rogue employee , work with the amenities and property at large .
3 star properties , give you just that , occasionally above that in service and view .
I chose to stay at both because I don’t care about jumping in the ocean or the need for Ferragamo toiletries , down pillows and Frette bedding .
That’s not why I select these properties . I’m fortunate to be able to include nice things in my daily life so coming to GC is about the chill , vibe and the people I’ve come to know .
There is a simple shuttle to get you onto the beach , plenty of beautiful views and the bar and restaurant are fun and equal to a good Neighborhood hang out .

I stayed at this resort for ten days. When I arrived the first room I was placed in had an unbearable moldy smell,it was an easy fix I was placed in another room that had a pool and partial ocean view. The food isn't bad not as good as the local restaurants in town.If you are looking to be near the beach and restaurants within walking distance this is not the hotel for you.If you don't have a car you can take the shuttle or a taxi which can be pricey. The staff is accommodating but I have to say Tevita is the star of the show!!! He is the hotel shuttle driver and he is extremely professional warm and kind hearted he deserves all the praise and glory! My stay here was pleasant.
