Went for 5 nights with a friend. The charges began upon arrival for things like getting garments ironed (€5 for a trouser etc.) I was not impressed as the cost of the room was already dear without breakfast! It was clean yet any requests made to reception HAD to be done face to face. I feel for those people who may have needed genuine assistance or an emergency. They do not even ring you back!!!

There are various reception staff yet each time we left and came to the hotel we were treated like suspicious strangers and it became uncomfortable.

Once the staff at reception stopped us in the lobby to check our room card! I felt so humiliated I just laughed in embarrassment.Yet we always made a point of greeting them when we left and returned to try make light of it.Felt we never received a warm 'hola' yet we tried to do this for them!

The wi fi never worked the whole week we were there.Though they had it for every floor individually and technicians had looked at the problem.Thank goodness we planned to have all meals out and about! We survived on free wi fi where we ate.It was so inconvenient to not be able to contact the UK in the evenings.

No help was given by staff. No real recommendations were made though we paid so much to stay there. The best we got were directions to a bus stop when we asked (phew).Felt that we burdened them with queries and questions of help.

They charge for the safe being used too.Me and my friend hope to never stay somewhere so cold and assuming again. It made us feel we didn't fit the profile of their usual residents. And not a day passed that staff looked down on us.

We stayed here for two nights recently.
*Reception and staff was friendly, helpful and clean.

*Room (#105) was spacious, clean and had good facilities. There was a tv, but it only had spanish channels, but who watches tv when they've got Barcelona to explore anyway!!
Our room had a cute little patio area opening out on to a square of other houses and gardens. It also had a sofa area and two very, very comfy twin beds. My daughter slept both nights for a solid 12hrs. The only slight irritation was the noise from the plumbing. It wasn't a major issue as our neighbours went to bed at a reasonable time, but whilst they were in the shower, the water pipes were making a bit of a racket! It soon stopped though and didn't affect our sleep!

*Bathroom was clean with a great shower, good water pressure and plentiful hot water.
We didn't have breakfast included in the price of our stay (unbekonwn to us the breakfast had been removed as we had originally booked B&B, but that wasn't the fault of the hotel, it was our agent) however we only paid £64 for 2 nights allowing us 3 full days in the city, which was cheaper than the hostel dorms and most definitely a bargain.

*Location. Pretty much midway between Placas Espanyol and Catalunya (Catalunya is probably a bit closer). We got the Aerobus from T2 into Placa Catalunya, but it would have been cheaper to get the train in. The hotel was easy to find as it was turn left onto the main road at the north end of Placa de Catalunya. Walk for 10 mins, past the University, and it is there! There are shortcuts back into town once you've found your feet, but when you first arrive in the city, the easiest way is best!! We walked everywhere, even to parc Guell, Sagrada, Placa espanyol, beach, cathedral, markets etc.

Barce is a wonderfully vibrant, clean, friendly city with great districts, shops and attractions and I will be recommending the Caledonian hotel to any friends and family who visit in future.

Stayed for 5 nights in this hotel. We had a problem when we arrived being told that we did not have a reservation. Was a bit shocked with this as i had a confirmation. We were given a room which was delighted about as it was 11.30 at night when we arrived. Went down to reception in the morning to be advised all was ok, the guy who was on at night had not looked in the correct part of the system! We were told we would have to change rooms but we knew that. The new room we were given looked right out the front of the hotel which was fantastic!! The hotel is in a fantasic place, so handy to all the attractions, within easy walking. I could not fault the hotel in any way. Well done and thanks for a great stay.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay here. We were travelling with a couple of other people and all three rooms were in excellent condition. Wonderfully clean and conveniently located with walking distance to a good many things down town. Excellent food recommendations. Lovely atmosphere.
The only draw back was the Taxi strike the day we supposed to catch our cruise, there was not much help on how to reach the port by bus or what stop. Oh well.
Loved the view from all around.

The Caledonian Hotel is in the perfect spot in Barcelona to reach every area on the Metro with ease. The area has a great night life and whilst here we visited a few restaurants. I am not normally the person to boast about where I have eaten but during my trip my friends and I dined at a lovely restaurant called 'The Venue Steak House' (68 Carrer Casanova). The food there was amazing, they specialise in steaks which have been imported from Ireland and England. It was amazing. Best meat I have ever seen. Highly reccomended. The hotel staff were lovely and very helpful. They would go out of their way to help you despite it being boiling hot weather. We will be returning!!

We got the Aerobus from the airport terminal 1, we got off at the bus stop, Universitat (3rd stop) the hotel was a 2 minute walk from here. Check in was fast & easy. Every where was very clean, or rooms very clean & spacious, beds very comfortable, shower was fab, loads of power, clean towels every day. There is only 2 comments i feel i need to make is: 1, not enough pillows, there was only 1 thin one, when we asked for more they said there was not enough as most people in the hotel had asked for more. 2, A kettle with cups & supplies ie tea/coffe ect would of been a bonus. The Hotel is very central for getting around Barcelona, it is walking distance to The Ramblas, Gothic Quater, all public transport ie subway, bus stops ect. We would recommend this Hotel, we would stay here again. Trish Nendick

I stayed at Caledonian Hotel as a solo traveller for 3 nights. This was an alternative hotel to the one I originally booked.
The hotel was great. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The foyer is well decorated and inviting.
The rooms were spacious and very well decorated and the bed was extremely comfortable.
The breakfast room was a good size with a decent size bathroom. The breakfast was a buffet style which I prefer and there was plenty of choice.
The location was great. 2 minutes walk to the nearest metro station (universitat) and 5/10 minutes walk to the main street La Rambla with all of its main bars and restaurants.
My only very minor complaint would be that I was on the 3rd floor and the wifi was either slow or non existent. If I wanted to use the internet I found it easier to go to reception. However, this is only a minor issue and didn't not effect my stay at all.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

I stayed there for a week and couldn't be happier. The hotel is not a fancy one but perfectly located near EVERYTHING. You can walk to any attraction in less than 30 mins ( with the far-est being La sagrada Familia:)). The placa catalunya was a 10 mins walk away. Starbucks is 1 block away.
I didn't try the food there since I prefer trying different places. A must try breakfast place nearby is " Brunch and Cake" with their famous Eggs Benedict.
I will definitely stay there in my next visit to Barcelona.

Although the hotel does face the busy main street, you can hardly hear any noise once the sliding door is closed (there are other rooms that do not face the main road). The best thing about this hotel is its location which is very central and easy to find. Las Ramblas is only about 5 minutes walk away and the Universitat metro line is just about 3-4 minutes walk. The bus from the airport stops at Universitat too, so it is convieniently located. A taxi from the airport cost about 25Euros.
Staff were friendly and always ready to answer any questions. The hotel itself is clean and neat. The same items for breakfast are served everyday and the service during breakfast could be improved.

The Caledonian Hotel is located right near the Universitat in Barcelona, Spain. It's conveniently located near the metro station at Universitat and close to numerous bars and restaurants. La Rambla is just a seven minute walk from the hotel and the Catalunya Plaza is even closer. The Caledonian hotel is located in the middle of it all and that's why we chose this hotel.
We chose the superior room with a great terrace, for the extra money spent it was worth it. The terrace has a great view of the surrounding area and you can accomodate up to twelve people up there. We used the terrace during happy hour and a great place to watch both the sunrise and sunset.
As stated, the hotel is very basic but very clean. I believe housekeeping comes once a day, in the morning. Housekeeping cleans the room, takes all take all the garbage and refills soap and shampoo. Once they are done, I believe they leave the hotel. I don't think housekeeping is available 24 hours and if you want new towels you have to wait for the next day. They do a great job with cleaning the room however.
I gave this hotel three stars because it's very basic, clean and great location. Also, the AC was not working properly and we could not fix the issue nor was able to move to another room, thank goodness it was not so hot when we visited Barcelona. The WiFi was also an issue, I had to go to the lobby area in order for me to login or get WiFi.
Check in is at two PM and not any earlier. We arrived in Barcelona at 8:30 am and was at the hotel at 9:00 am but we could not check in 'till two PM, and this might be a problem to some. But since the hotel is near lots of bars and restaurants you can kill time by checking out these places and the area.

Hi, I don't remember an iron in the room, but they can probably supply one. They do have a laundry service. As Yas46 suggested why not give them a ring, they all seemed to speak good English +34 93 453 02 00.
