Motto by Hilton Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square stands out for its impeccable location, with guests often lauding its proximity to local attractions and transit. The hotel's modern and clean atmosphere, especially its trendy rooftop bar, has garnered compliments, although the compactness of the rooms and the pulsing music volume have been points of contention. While the absence of in-room amenities like fridges and coffee makers has been noted, the presence of water stations and a fitness center adds to its value. Service at the hotel is frequently commended for the staff's commendable friendliness and efficiency, despite occasional delays at the coffee shop.

The place to stay! We loved being within walking distance of Jenni's Ice Cream and Rittenhouse Square. Nice walk to Reading Market. Inexpensive Uber or public transportation to get to Phil Museums. So many restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Great option for those on a budget! Thanks to Mo, at the front desk. She was so courteous and helpful. Super clean room and a comfy bed! Would definitely be our choice again on a return trip.

This hotel has everything we needed for a trip to the city. It definitely has great location (within a minute's walk to trolley and bus stops) and even if you're not into transit, much of center city is within walking distance. The staff was friendly (on par with large, brand-name luxury hotels), and the room was nicely appointed despite its small size. Furniture was clean and new (needless to say given that the hotel was merely 2 months old when we stayed), and it did have a view of sorts. You do have to bring your own toothbrushes and slippers but that's getting more and more common these days everywhere. I would totally stay here again.

I reserved a queen room for a few days while interviewing in the area. The room itself is adorable — they’re small but designed that way and more than enough space for one or two people. The fitness area is probably nicer than my gym at home. The location is perfect for accessing anything in center city and close enough to any SEPTA public transit you might need — I was able to walk here after regional rail from the airport, access a bus to Old City around the corner, and come home after wandering via a short couple block walk from the subway station. James at check-in was incredibly friendly and able to provide several suggestions on things to do and places to eat in the area. Would absolutely recommend, especially for solo travelers.

Arriving in Philadelphia early in the morning, I arrived at the hotel just after 7am expecting to store my luggage and go out for breakfast. On asking to store my luggage, the female staff member at the front desk offered to check me in straight away as my room was available. She was friendly and took the time to ask me why I was visiting and if I had been to the city before; on discovering it was my first time visiting she offered suggestions on where to go and where to eat. During my stay the front desk staff were always friendly, acknowledging you when passing through the lobby and asking how the stay was.

The room itself, although simple, was comfortable and well-designed, with the water bottle refill machines on each floor were a really nice touch. The location of the hotel is fairly convenient, just over a ten minute walk from the Amtrak station and around a twenty-five minute walk to the Historic District.

I would definitely stay here again if visiting Philadelphia. Thank you for a great stay!

What a great modern concept! I traveled solo and stayed in a small single room with a queen bed. The rooms are so strategically designed with lots of hooks, shelves, and smartly chosen features for placing your items. I also appreciated the refillable hand soap, shampoo/conditioner, and body soap in the bathroom--THANK YOU for not contributing to unnecessary plastic waste and for keeping rates down in this way, as well! I also loved the refillable water station on the floor. The view of the city around me is lovely and the TV delivers awesome entertainment. It has a very clean, smart European feel. I can imagine this space being sufficient for a couple, as well. For $125/night (tax inclusive), this is a fantastic space! The service has also been wonderful, too. One word of warning: while it is walkable to many great attractions and nearby to shopping and dining, if you are interested in the historic sites around Independence Hall, it's a 27 minute walk. There is also no refrigerator or microwave in the room, but for the price, it's very understandable. I will definitely look for more Pod hotels in the future!

To start, when the demand pricing gods are shining on the Motto, this is an excellent selection for those who are on a budget and want a very solid choice. The pros below will make the hotel a better choice than others in this category. Beyond price, it will depend on your taste as to whether you will seek the Motto out or look elsewhere.

On the positive side, the front desk staff is a delight to deal with, the rooms are spotless, and the rooms have a cool, spare aesthetic that will appeal to the right tastes. Rooms are small, but this is not a micro hotel, and the layout is functional. Beds are comfortable. A nightclub on the top floor seems quite popular with a younger crowd on weekends. Very central location. So why not leave it at that?

The same things that appeal to some may not appeal to others! The spare look can also be called spartan, with no real furniture, no rugs, perfectly blank white walls, and no multiday housekeeping. No chairs, refrigerators, coffee machines, pictures of any type. Rooms may not be micro, but they certainly aren't commodious either and thus may be a better fit for a single traveler wishing to spread out a bit. The cooling system is effective but blows and sounds like a tropical storm when it's on - I did get used to it after a while. Finally, that disco gets a bit noisy and apparently spike heels are the rage because we could hear them from time to time through the ceiling. You may want to avoid rooms on the 10th floor, especially on weekends and if they are near the elevator shaft. Our room had a nice open city scape view which you might want to request. I had the basic room, and there is an upgrade class - sort of wreaks the budget thing though.

So there you go, you choose. When the price is low, which it is often, this is a very good choice for the money. Beyond that - it's up to your choice in style. I fully expect that there will be ardent believes on both sides of the style issue!

This was our first stay at the Pod Hotel in Philly, but it won't be our last! The moment we entered their lobby we knew we were someplace special. We were greeted by a impeccably dressed staff member who made us feel welcome and the process to getting to our room, seamless. Next to the registration desk, there was a beautiful and bustling restaurant.
Our room was sleekly appointed with a comfortable bed and large windows with two layers of shades to give plenty of choices for level of light as well as privacy. The room temperature was easy to adjust to our liking. The bathroom was large and modern as well. We booked the slightly larger room, but I think we would have been comfortable with the smaller size room as they are well designed.
It was a secure hotel with only guests having access to the floors above the main level - using our room key to allow us to reach our floor on the elevator.
The only (very minor comment) thing that was missing was a full length mirror in our room.
Lovely, convenient and a good value

The location is great. You’re steps away from convenience stores, pharmacy, public transport, restaurants and city center. The hotel is very cozy and focuses in the small details. My room was impeccable, smart TV available, I was nervous about WiFi since I had to give a presentation and it worked perfect. Also I used a lot the water dispenser of my floor to refill my bottle (I hate to buy plastic bottles). The eco-friendly concept was also present in the bathroom with dispensers for soap, conditioner and body wash. The bed and pillows were cozy but the closet was a bit small if you have a lot of clothes. Staff was friendly and willing to help at all times. I was not able to go to the rooftop because it was freezing, but can’t complain about the view from my room. The coffee shop made my day.

This nearly new hotel has yet to open its restaurants, but everything else about it was just about perfect. The room was of a practical size for two, and had accessible features, like a huge shower with both overhead and “telephone “ heads. It took awhile to regulate temperature, so an instruction card would be helpful. There were many handy built in features that made keeping it tidy a breeze. Suitcases fit under the bed, flush shelves helped organize toiletries. Bedding and bath linens were as plush as you’d expect. The location was ideal for us to hop the 42 bus to visit the Penn Campus and the Spruce Hill neighborhood where our granddaughter lives.

Spent 2 nights here in December. The hotel had just opened 3 months ago so everything was clean and new. Beds were comfortable, room was strategically accommodated for a small space. We had a queen deluxe and the room was not much different than a "regular" hotel room. The bar and restaurant in the hotel were very hip. Parking is available in the garage across the street for a $25/night - it is valet parking and you can make a reservation in advance. Will be staying there again!

I felt pretty safe walking around the neighborhood, but it's quite a hike to the train station, and I don't know if there are any pedestrian bridges over the river. You might want to take a cab/rideshare or transit to the hotel.
