We stayed for one night to attend a Pacers game. It is literally around the corner from the Bankers Life Fieldhouse, so you can't stay any closer to the stadium.
We arrived with a couple of hours before game time, so we decided to have dinner. The Hard Rock Cafe is across the street, and because it provides the hotel's room service, you can use your room key for a discount if you eat there; we decided to try it out. It was a standard HRC experience, so afterwards, we had regretted not taking the opportunity to try something new - not bad, just not great.
After the game, we came back to the hotel and my husband realized he couldn't make it without a cigarette, but he didn't pack any. We talked to the front desk clerk and she was very helpful in giving directions about how to get to the convenience store within walking distance.
There was an incident after we got back up to our room where someone was knocking on the door next to ours (the doors on the DD rooms were right next to each other) and it sounded like it was someone knocking on our door; I went to answer it and there were two security guards in the hallway. I have no idea what was going on, but I never heard anything else after that.
Thanks to TA reviews, I knew to get a room on an upper level floor due to traffic noise and away from the elevators. If you're a Hilton Honors member, you can check-in early online before your stay and choose your own room. I did so, and went with room 517. I liked that it tells you which rooms are adjoining so you can avoid it, if you want. The room was fairly small, especially considering we normally stay in a suite, but probably standard size for most 2Q/D rooms. I liked that it had 2 USB ports in the electrical outlet, and the blackout curtains worked well (some hotel curtains don't block the light all that well). We didn't have any street noise. The beds were not as great/comfortable as the ones we're used to (our past few stays have been at Homewood Suites), but were comfortable enough for all four of us to get a decent night's sleep. The furnishings were as expected. Room was mostly very clean, although I noticed the shower walls didn't seem to have been thoroughly wiped down (you could see once the steam in the shower got going). The bathroom did not have a vent, which wasn't a big deal to us - and quite honestly, I dislike noisy vents, especially for late-night restroom use when the vent is tied in to the main bathroom light switch.
Parking is valet only, and we utilized this service; it was a very reasonable fee, imo, for the unlimited in-out service - especially when you consider it wasn't much more than what it costs to park in a parking garage downtown (which, btw, there was one across the street next to the Hard Rock Cafe).
Breakfast is served on the second floor, and was standard continental breakfast fare. The staff working in the breakfast area was very kind and helpful; a gentleman even came up to my table after the breakfast time had ended and mentioned they were going to shut it down, so if there was anything else I wanted, I should get it before they put everything away. Most hotels shut their breakfast down right at the specified time, so I felt that was thoughtful of them.
Overall, we were pleased with our visit and would likely come again for a short stay; though, we might check other options for a longer visit or if we planned to stay away from downtown.
