Ok, I had looked at all the reviewes before i made the booking. Stayed for 3 nights. It is more or less what i expected, great location(about 10 mins´ walk from Las Ramblas if you take the short cut. But a friend of mine who lived in Barcelona for one year told me that the short cut could be a little doggy at night), small but clean room(cleaned everyday), very helpful staff. Plus there are loads of bars and restaurants and shops and an internet cafe around the hotel.
However, i have to say there is a downside, the sound proof of the hotel is very poor. You can hear almost everything that is happening in your neighbours. On the first night, while i was watching TV (there are about 20 channels, but most of them are in spanish, only 2 english news channels), all of a sudden i felt a strange vibe noise, not too loud, but very clear. It took me about 5 mins to realised that it came from the next room, someone was snoring!! Well, apart from that, i don´t really have any other compains.
So if you don´t want to break your bank just for a bed, yet you don´t want to share the room with others in a hostel, this hotel will just be fine for you.

A great thx to Gigi for her warm welcome and friendliness , spent short stay in this marvellous hotel where most hot spots are within a walking distance for instance : las ramblas , placa catalunia and placa espagna. The hotel itself is very clean and linen is soft and clean, breakfast has all you need from fresh desert to pancake and good quality of cafe. Thnx again and keep it up

We recently had a short break in Barcelona and found this hotel on a hotel booking site. Arriving late at night, the first impression was of a pretty sad area. And next morning, having found that there wasn't a decent breakfast on offer, we explored and found a cafe with excellent food and at a reasonable price. We did get a no-hassle refund without even asking!
The hotel rooms are small and basic. The walls are absolutely paper thin - we could hear other people talking (and unfortunately, other activities) next door and underneath. The air conditioning hadn't been activated and so there was warm air blowing into the rooms - the temperature outside was approx 36deg. It took two requests to get some cool air, but once on, it was efficient.
High praise though for the staff, particularly Joseph Luis and Raphael, their 'tourist' advice was sound, and any 'niggle' did get sorted to the best of their capabilities.
The hotel is quite near the Parall-el - and there are some decent cafe's and restaurants along that road. The harbour area is walkable and you are able to get on the City Tour buses there.
If you want a (relatively) cheap and cheerful hotel with accomodating staff, I would recommend this hotel. If you want 3* - look elsewhere.

The hotel is well located and a metro stop can be found nearby. The area can become a bit dodgy at night, but the hotel are aware of this and lock the doors, only opening for guests.

My room was tiny, but cosy and was located right next to the exit for the stairs. This was not a good thing, as every time somebody came up the stairs the door slammed shut. The walls are also very thin and noises from the rooms above can be heard, especially the toilet flushing.

Good standard air conditioning and a safe (2 euros a day) are provided in the room. The wifi was not great and often disconnected, which isn't great for business travellers.

Breakfast is incredibly basic for the price. If you are happy with some juice, toast and pastries then you will find this here. However if you expect sausages, bacon, eggs etc. I believe you can pay just as much in a local cafe. The breakfast room is tiny, with around 3 tables.

Response from Recepción N, Guest Relations Manager at Hotel Nuevo Triunfo

Good morning Mr Bexibell, Thank yo so much for your balanced review. You've indicated as positive our nearby location to the city center and good communication with the local transport, the night control to the access and the standard air conditioning. We're sorry if others facilities weren't at the high of these you are mentioning as positive, but we are trying to improve them as much as we can. Best regards José Luis Vílchez
