About NYU Zoom

NYU Zoom is a cloud-based, full-featured web, video, and audio conferencing service which enables hybrid or remote classes and meetings. Use it for online teaching, training, remote support, and meetings. The service allows participants to engage in synchronous online meetings from a conference room solution, a mobile device, personal computer, or phone. Participating via a smart phone or computer will allow the users to share both live video and share content from the device.

What's New?

Faculty and Staff: Zoom AI Companion Features: Two features of a new Zoom AI Companion tool—Meeting Summary and Questions—are now available to faculty and staff in their NYU Zoom accounts. See #5 in the Getting Started section below for details.

Who doesn't? If you are a current NYU student, faculty or staff member, or researcher, you can use NYU Zoom.

Getting Started

1. Activate Your NYU Zoom Account

Navigate to nyu.zoom.us
Select Login to Zoom
Log in with your NYU NetID and password
Make sure this is your NYU Zoom account, not a different version of Zoom.

2. Install the Zoom App

Navigate to nyu.zoom.us/download
Select the correct installer based on your device (see system requirements)
Complete the installation

3. Log into NYU Zoom

Launch the Zoom application
Select Sign In
On the sign-in screen, select SSO near the bottom
Enter "nyu" if prompted for a company domain
Log in with your NYU NetID and password
Complete NYU Multi-Factor Authentication (Duo), if prompted

4. Activate the Waiting Room to Add a Layer of Security

Hosts have the ability to vet participants prior to starting a meeting and control who can participate. To activate the Waiting Room feature:

Go to nyu.zoom.us
Select Login to Zoom then log in with your NYU NetID and password
Complete NYU Multi-Factor Authentication (Duo), if prompted
Select Settings on the left menu
Scroll down to Waiting Room
Toggle the switch to turn on the feature (when enabled it will turn blue)

6. NEW: Faculty and Staff: Zoom AI Companion

Two features of a new Zoom AI Companion tool—Meeting Summary and Questions—are now available in NYU Zoom to all faculty and staff.

Important Notes

Either or both features may be manually started by the host before or during a meeting and attendees must accept or leave. No record of using these features is saved by or visible to Zoom or NYU
NYU Zoom is only meant to be used for meetings involving Moderate Risk data and below. See the Terms of Use for policies and guidance on appropriate use of NYU Zoom and these new features
Students do not have access to use these features as meeting hosts, only the Questions feature as an attendee if the meeting host enables it
