Keyboard

Keyboard actions if focus is on the menubar

  • Left arrow: Selects previous menubar item
  • Right arrow: Selects next menubar item
  • Tab: Selects next menubar item
  • Shift-Tab: Selects previous menubar item
  • Down arrow: Opens pull down menu and select first menu item
  • Enter: Opens new web page for that topic
  • Space: Opens pull down menu and selects first menu item

Keyboard actions if focus is on a menu item

  • Left arrow: Closes pull down menu and select the previous menubar item
  • Right arrow: Closes pull down menu and select the next menubar item
  • Up arrow: Selects previous menu item
  • Down arrow: Selects next menu item
  • Enter: Opens new web page for selected item and dismisses menu
  • Esc: Close menu and returns focus to menubar

Screen reader

The Main Navigation is a menubar application, which changes the typical keyboard commands.

JAWS

  • Via Tab key: Refer to the Keyboard instructions
  • Via virtual cursor: Press Enter on the first list item of the Main Navigation to enter Application Mode, then use the Keyboard instructions to navigate the menubar.

NVDA

  • Via Tab key: Navigate to the Main Navigation, refer to the Keyboard instructions
  • Via virtual cursor: Press Enter when you encounter the Main Navigation Application to enter the menubar. Use the Keyboard instructions to navigate the menubar.

VoiceOver

When you enter the web application for Main Navigation, use the Keyboard instructions to navigate the menubar.
