Gentle Ramirez (CAS ʼ22) is selected as a Black Tech Achievement Award (JPMorgan Headline Sponsor) "Rising Star" Finalist. This award recognizes young professionals under the age of 30 who demonstrate passion, innovation, and commitment to energizing and driving progress within the technology sector. (Winter 2024)

Yixin Tao (CIMS ʼ20) is now assistant professor at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. (Fall 2023)

Abhi Ashutosh (CAS ʼ16) is an engineering leader at Apple (UI Frameworks: SwiftUI and UIKit) for the company's newest product, the advanced AR/VR device known as Vision Pro with visionOS. (Summer 2023)

Raisa Glabman (CAS ʼ09) has joined the Fred Hutch Cancer Center, an independent, non-profit organization working towards accelerating breakthroughs in cancer and infectious disease research. (Fall 2023)

Becca Franks (CAS ʼ02) is a research scientist in the department of Environmental Studies at New York University and recently won a Refinement Grant from the Animal Welfare Institute. Dr. Franks is among four winners who will develop and test innovative methods of refinement to the care, husbandry, or housing of animals in research to improve their welfare. (Winter 2022)

Debbie Graf Berman (WSUC '79) is putting her math education into practice as a full-time math tutor. (Winter 2024)

Barney Paul Popkin (WSC ʼ64) published parts 1 & 2 of The Role of Climate, Rocks, and Soils on the Wines of Napa Valley, California in The Professional Geologist (TPG) for the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG), and Selected Aspects of Military Geology Applied to Ukraine in the Global Journal of Human-Social Science (GJHSS). He is currently writing Geologic Influences on the Natural Resources of the Levant. (Summer 2023)

Gallatin School of Individualized Study

Carly Krakow (GAL ʼ16), faculty member at the Gallatin School, has a new article in The Washington Post about environmental justice. Krakow's article is connected to the course she designed and teaches on environmental justice for NYU—Environmental Racism and Environmental Injustice: Rights, Citizenship, and Activism. Rachel Rae Vassar (GAL ʼ06) joins the 2022-23 Longwood Gardens Fellows program from the Landscapes and Gardens team at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS), where she manages the design and construction of parks, playgrounds, and green stormwater infrastructure. (Spring 2022)

Graduate School of Arts & Science

Robert D. Ellis (GSAS ʼ67) is retiring after 40 years as a union organizer and 25 years as database administrator for several unions and private sector organizations. (Winter 2024)

NYU Abu Dhabi

Sumit Dahal (NYUAD ʼ15) made the Forbes 30 under 30 - Asia - Healthcare and Science list. Sumit is an experimental astrophysicist and postdoctoral fellow at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, where he builds telescopes to study the origin and evolution of the universe. (Summer 2022)

Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development

Marla Schuchman (STEINHARDT ʼ05, TANDON ʼ11) is celebrating the first anniversary of standing up the new Research and Technology Partnerships Office at Jefferson Lab, a Department of Energy National Laboratory in Newport News, VA. As the Chief Innovation Officer, she helps transfer new technologies and discoveries from the lab to the market. (Winter 2023)

Tandon School of Engineering

Chen Zhu (TANDON ʼ14) is working at Booking.com as a senior software engineer for almost one year. (Spring 2024)

Harold Paz (TANDON ʼ54) is celebrating his 95th birthday. He is noted for his invention of the direct-coupled amplifier, which made possible for the analog silicon chip industry revolution in the early 1960s. (Spring 2024)

Tisch School of the Arts

Jim Willard (TSOA ’85) was hired this year as an executive for NTT Data, overseeing the information technology infrastructure of the National Life Group. (Summer 2022)
