“Growth will halt at the global level within the next decades, one way or another. Either we choose our own limits, or the limits are forced upon us through ecosystem breakdown.” Meet Gaya Herrington at Folkemødet 2024! Tomorrow through Saturday, Gaya Herrington will be joining us at Bornholm this year's Folkemøde. Gaya is a global thought leader on sustainability and economic systems change. Her research examines how environmental, social, and economic factors interact and are interconnected. Gaya is an advisor to the The Club of Rome of Rome and a member of their Transformational Economics Commission under the Earth4All initiative. In 2021, her empirical analysis of the 1972 Limits to Growth report's predictions went viral, concluding that we are on a path to experiencing the limits to growth being forced upon us, with significant social, environmental, and financial consequences if humanity does not change its current destructive trajectory. Additionally, Gaya serves as Vice President of Sustainability Research at Schneider Electric. Catch Gaya at one of the events she will be speaking at: ✨ She will be diving into the role of new economic thinking in enabling a truly sustainable society and confronting the deadlocks of our current economic system with Den Grønne Ungdomsbevægelse and Rethinking Economics Danmark. 🌱 She will be discussing how we can create a new economic system and move towards future-fit policymaking together with our other international guest, Katherine Trebeck at Handlingsskibet. The event will be moderated by Michael Schøt and is co-organised with Østifterne, Roskilde Festival Gruppen and Rethinking Economics Danmark. 🔥 She will be debating how ecosystem breakdown and climate change pose a major systemic risk to our financial sector and a great threat to our pensions specifically at Politiken's stage. 🌎 She will be sharing insights from her empirical research on the limits to growth: how we can make a turnaround, get the economy back within planetary boundaries, and avoid global collapse. Addressing the root causes of climate change
About us
KR Foundation aims to address the root causes of climate change and environmental degradation. We primarily fund projects that work with sustainable finance, sustainable behaviour and climate communications. The Foundation’s overall aim is aligned with the Paris Agreement’s goal of keeping global temperature rise in this century well-below 2 ̊C above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase even further to 1.5 ̊C. We pursue this by funding projects that provide answers to, change mindsets about, and encourage action on the challenges faced by current and future generations living on a planet with finite resources, fragile ecosystems, and climate change. KR Foundation was established on 21 December 2014 by VILLUM FONDEN and the descendants of civil engineer Villum Kann Rasmussen. The foundation is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, but works internationally. We collaborate closely with The Velux Foundations and the V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation.

“Imagine an economy designed to serve people and planet, rather than the other way around.” Meet Katherine Trebeck at Folkemødet 2024! At this year’s Folkemøde, we will be joined by Katherine Trebeck, political economist, author and advocate for a transition to a global wellbeing economy. Her significant contribution to spurring economic systems change include her roles as co-founder of the Wellbeing Economy Alliance - WEAll and as instigator of Wellbeing Economy Governments (WEGos), both institutions that unite different actors and governments around a vision of a wellbeing economy at both national and global levels. Katherine is also a senior fellow at the ZOE Institute for Future-fit Economies and a board member of the CUSP | Centre for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity as well as on the board of WELA - Wellbeing Economy Lab. She also works as a financial and strategic advisor for The Next Economy in Australia. At Folkemødet, Katherine will contribute with her expertise in many ways: 💡 She will be discussing how economic myths shape our society with Alexander Holm and Adam Hannestad at Politiken. 🌱 She will be diving into how to build an economic system and foster policymaking for the future at Handlingsskibet together with our other international guest, Gaya Herrington. The event will be moderated by Michael Schøt and is co-organised with Østifterne, Roskilde Festival Gruppen and Rethinking Economics Danmark. 💚 She will speak on the role of compassion can and should play in our economies, and how we must boot the notion that greed and competition yields efficiency and optimal outcomes. ⚖️ She will be discussing how a quest for global justice – economic and otherwise – is crucial for the green transition to in fact take succeed, with Rethinking Economics Danmark. Læs mere i Fundats: https://lnkd.in/dNqKXF-c

Dato: 13. december 2023 Tid: 16:00 - 17:30 Sted: Konferencesalen, Læderstræde 20, 1201 København K Mød: Pollster og Founding Partner, Opinion & The Other One Jesper Claus Larsen, Partner & Public Affairs Director at Rud Pedersen Public Affairs Sune Steffen Hansen, Managing partner i STRUCTURED Mikkel Wolf Rasmussen og Direktør hos Teknologirådet//DeltagerDanmark Rune Baastrup.
