Save the date! Casa Central's 70th Anniversary Gala is going totally '70s. Casa Central was founded in 1954, so we're bringing you "Studio 1954" — our Annual Fundraising Gala theme for 2024. Friday, October 18th from 6pm - midnight, afterparty 'till 1am. At the Lacuna Lofts (2150 S. Canalport, Chicago). Catering by LM Catering & Events. Dress code: 1970's Disco or cocktail attire. June 21: A crew of workers began a big renovation job on an underused pathway between our main buildings. They dug up the existing patch of earth and laid down crushed gravel, turf, and began building a patio seating area. Once finished and fully planted, this spot will be a pleasant, quiet place to sit and take a break. It’s a big task, and more work is still scheduled… we will update when it’s complete. Huge thanks to Yellowstone Landscape for donating hard work, time, and materials, and to Green-Up Landscape, LLC for donating the turf. Children in our School Age Program learned how to make tortillas from scratch today. They carefully mixed the corn masa with water to get the right consistency, then pressed them flat into circles before baking to perfection. The Farm to Casa initiative engages kids to learn hands-on about what we put in our bodies, our culture, our heritage — and that food doesn't just magically appear in a grocery store! #CasaCentral

Thank you for making the 2024 Casa Central Health Fair a success! Our wonderful community came together last Thursday for an afternoon of health & social services information, fun, games — and tacos. Big thanks to Molina Healthcare, ComEd, Northwestern Medicine – Neurology, the Chicago Department of Public Health, the Illinois Department of Healthcare & Family Services, and Taqueria Jarabe. Thanks also to our Casa staff: the Early Learning Academy (ELA) & School Age Program (SAP), the Adult Wellness Center (AWC) & Home Care Services (HCS) program, the Violence Prevention and Intervention (VPI) program, Casa Central Human Resources department, our Senior Management Team, the Facilities Department, and Casa Kitchen for their generous help and participation in the Fair. PNC and Chicago Bears volunteers came to the Early Learning Center on Tuesday for a “Homeroom Huddle.” Former Bears defensive tackle Chris Zorich visited classrooms, read stories to the kids and helped the children with a project planting marigolds. PNC generously donated educational booklets, football piggie banks and Sesame Street stuffies for the students, as well as eight $200 gift cards for classrooms to buy school supplies. Thanks to Chris Zorich and all the folks from PNC for brightening the day at the ELA! #PNCGrowUpGreat #CasaCentral
