Partnerships like ours with Comcast allow our programs to serve our whole community, holistically. Thank you Broderick for highlighting the amazing work our partnership provides!

This month, watching my #LGBTQ close family members, friends, and colleagues celebrate together and take #pride in their identities and their communities has given me so much joy. Even as the celebrations wind down, however, I’m reminded of the important work our LGBTQ-serving partners do all year long to support and uplift their communities. Center on Halsted is one of Comcast’s longest-standing LGBTQ-serving partners, with three locations, each one offering free WiFi as a Comcast #LiftZone. The Center also incorporates #digitalskills into their wide-ranging programing, which is one of the reasons it’s so successful. Recently, 37-year-old restaurant owner and LGBTQ community member, Tasha, enrolled in the Center’s free seven-week Silver Fork program to improve her culinary skills. In the beginning, she had no idea how important technology would be to the program. In addition to the training in the kitchen, Tasha’s instructors helped her manage and track expenses, forecast revenue, and refine her budgeting process, all using the comprehensive technology resources available to her at the Center. Through this work, Tasha discovered a critical profit loss, helping to inform her new business strategy, which is now generating healthy profits. With the support of her chef instructors, and the digital resources available, Tasha was able to learn new skills that have put her business on a positive track and has kept another LGBTQ-owned #smallbusiness thriving in Chicago. I thank all the LGBTQ-serving community organizations across the country for your tireless work to empower this diverse and vibrant community—and congratulations on another great Pride Month!

Thank you to Juliet Allan from Block Club Chicago for highlighting our Youth Horizons Program! Community is crucial for LGBTQ+ folks. And for many mentees, this program offers a way to be the person they needed when they were younger. Donating to Center on Halsted can help to keep this program running and expand to serve even more folks. Donate here: https://lnkd.in/dhZepRC https://lnkd.in/gXQRD62e

Chicago's 53rd Pride Parade was full of joy! Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us. Our donors and auxiliary board members brought the party with U.S. Bank cheering on the parade. Special thanks to our volunteers and staff represented Center on Halsted and marched the whole route! Our Pride celebrations aren't over yet! Join us this weekend at 2024 Pride South Side.
