I've had some interesting conversations with other nurses the last few weeks about the power of networking. Many nurses have noticed that nursing school doesn't teach us about networking. It's great for business AND your professional brand. Business deals and job offers really can be and are often done offline at conferences, airports, golf courses, etc. This is because of the power that is networking. Check out this blog I wrote on reasons to network.
As the summer winds down, I am reflecting on the work I've done this summer. While I didn't get to vacation much

I spent the last three days at the A&T fair, juggling teaching and writing and all the grey parenting bits inbetween. And after watching countless companies at the fair, wait to post on social media - delaying their message because it needed the "perfect branding", here is my take-away: Consumers, clients, customers, and even suppliers value authenticity over perfection. Read that again. If your message is delayed because you felt the delivery needed to be "perfect", perhaps this is for you. People are connecting with brands that reflect the human element - that are not afraid to poke fun at themselves - that sometimes get it wrong and OWN it. They no longer buy into overlu commercial, non personal brands. This fair was incredible on so many levels - integrating education, business, technology and innovation. The A&T team do an outstanding job, going above and beyond to deliver. If you missed it this year, the it's definitely something to mark in your calendar for 2025 💪

I may not be the one saving lives but I get to hire the amazing nurses who do. | Nurse Recruiter for Bon Secours Mercy Health | Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
Nursing students often ask me, What interview tips and tricks do you recommend? I always smile and say, Follow your ABC's. They always pause, whether in person or over the phone, and ask what do you mean. I tell them to Always Be Curious! Why is it good to always be curious, you ask? There are so many possibilities, and these are a few of my favorites! Curiosity fuels continuous learning, adapts us to change, sparks innovation, and propels personal growth. Embracing curiosity in nursing goes beyond just answering questions; it's about demonstrating a passion for continuous learning, adaptability, and a genuine interest in both patients and the evolving healthcare landscape. It's the key to unlocking new opportunities, deeper connections, and a life filled with wonder. Embrace the power of curiosity; it can be your passport to a world of endless possibilities! #AlwaysBeCurious #AskQuestions #ExploreLearnThrive
