    #ceasefirenow 🍉 | Advocacy & Operations Manager, UNRWA USA

Last week, I had the honor of representing UNRWA USA on the Peace Boat’s celebration of #WorldOceansDay and the #SustainableDevelopmentGoals to shed light on the connections between Palestine, the environment, and hunger. #SDG2 aims to end hunger and achieve food security by 2030. The year is 2024 and Gaza is on the brink of famine. Children are dying of malnutrition and dehydration, while food and clean water sit in trucks awaiting entry by Israeli authorities, just a couple of miles away. The IPC reports that 96% of the population are facing acute food insecurity and the UN predicts than 1 million people are expected to face death and starvation by mid-July. Being able to speak about Palestine and the environment - my two greatest passions, which are really one in the same, while representing UNRWA USA on the Peace Boat was the highlight of my career thus far. Thank you to Peace Boat US and Emilie McGlone for the invitation, Joseph Skibbens at Global Citizen for making the connection, and to my fellow Palestinian environmental activists at Act4Food and #ZeroWastePalestine for sharing the stage with me. More to come!

Having young people involved in shaping food systems is important because it impacts our everyday lives and the future generation. To achieve this, we have created an environment where young people can unite in achieving this common goal. Get to know the faces of our youth leaders who would be making this possible💃🏾. P.s: We would be hosting our youth leaders for a workshop. Keep your fingers locked in new updates. #act4food #Act4Collaboration #youthleaders #healthyfoodsystems

Community is at the heart of transforming our food system. On the 30th of April, Belinda Ng our Act4food Youth Leader for the UK/Hong Kong, attended Future Food Movement annual dinner in London. The event brought together of members across food value chains, @Future Food Movement coalition of members across food value chains, from retailers and manufacturers to farmers and consumers. Over a three-course meal, attendees participated in and listened to a series of engaging panels. Her key takeaway: Radical collaboration is essential across the food system to ensure increased accessibility to healthy and sustainable diets. Food cultures and food environments are pivotal components of this transformation and need to be shaped collaboratively through effective youth engagement in policy and commercial decision-making. At Act4food, we believe that community is the heart of this change. By fostering strong, interconnected communities, we can share stories, inspire each other, and drive the collective action needed to transform our food system.   How can we better harness the power of community to create a more sustainable and healthy food future? Operational Research Manager in humanitarian emergency settings | Public Health and Nutrition Research | PhD in Health Sciences

I had the incredible opportunity to present our work on #AdolescentNutrition at the WPHN Congress 2024 last week 🎉 In collaboration with the Global Adolescent Nutrition Network (Emergency Nutrition Network (ENN)) and a dedicated group of young people from Act4Food, we embarked on a mission to develop a conceptual and actionable framework to guide global actions and investments in adolescent nutrition. 🔎 Our Approach: - Conducted a review of existing frameworks for adolescent nutrition. - Identified 15 eligible frameworks and used the nominal group technique (NGT) to reach a consensus on their characteristics, limitations, and strengths. - Recognised the necessity for a new, comprehensive framework to inform and guide actions and investments. 💡 The Impact: - The novel, youth co-designed framework will fill critical gaps in adolescent nutrition research, policy, and programming. -  It will empower policymakers, youth advocates, implementing partners, and donors to take informed actions and make impactful investments to improve adolescent nutrition worldwide. 🚀 Next steps: - Develop a visually engaging representation of the framework to enhance understanding and communication. - Incorporate further feedback from experts and adolescents to refine and strengthen the framework. A big thank you to everyone who attended my talk, showed great interest in our work, and provided valuable feedback. Your enthusiasm and support are truly inspiring and motivate us to continue this important work! We hope you are as excited as we are to see the new conceptual framework for adolescent nutrition come to life. 🌟

Ever thought about how the food on your plate gets there? It's not just about farming; it's about the environment that nurtures it. Here's a fun fact: A healthy food system is only possible when we take care of our environment. The treatment we give is what we get! Think about it: Healthy Soil = Healthy Food Without rich, clean soil, our veggies, fruits, and grains wouldn't be as nutritious. Clean Water = Quality Crops Polluted water affects everything from our morning coffee to the bread we eat. Biodiversity = Resilient Food Supply: Bees, birds, and bugs help pollinate our crops, making sure we have a variety of foods. Stable Climate = Reliable Harvests Extreme weather disrupts farming. Sustainable practices help keep our climate stable and our food supply steady. So, here's the deal: You don't have to put yourself first. By taking care of the environment, you're actually ensuring your own food security and health. Win-win! This World Environment Day, let’s: 1. Be intentional about our environment 2. Support sustainable farming 3. Cut down on food waste 4. Promote clean energy 5. Save water 6. Protect natural habitat. Remember, the better we treat our planet, the better it treats us. Let's nurture nature to enjoy healthy, delicious food every day! Happy World Environment Day! 🌍💚 #WorldEnvironmentDay #HealthyFood #Sustainability #LoveOurPlanet #EcoFriendly
