🔔 The climate crisis cannot be solved without also addressing biodiversity loss and land degredation- our new webinar series will focus on forging connections between the three Rio Conventions. 🍀 Changemakers for Agri-food Action, a multi-part capacity building series will delve into the Rio Convention-related actions of young leaders in the areas of advocacy 💬 , partnerships, and knowledge-sharing 🤝 , aiming to inspire, educate, and mobilize other young individuals to take action. In the first episode of this series, we will take a look at the role and importance of SBI (Subsidiary Bodies of Implementation) conferences on the road to the upcoming UNFCCC, UNCBD, and UNCCD COPs. 🌱 Exciting times for #YoungFarmers! 🌱 YPARD was thrilled to participate in the World Farmers' Organisation (WFO) Annual Meeting in Rome yesterday. 🤗 This event is setting the stage for WFO's official youth mechanism and creating a platform for young farmers to lead on the global stage. 💬 The day kicked off with international experts discussing key topics like irrigation systems, climate-smart agriculture 🌾 , and soil health. Participants then broke into working groups to tackle these issues head-on. Our Program Coordinator, Edoardo Corriere had the pleasure of contributing to the group on the profitability of climate-smart agriculture. Edoardo also gave the closing remarks on behalf of YPARD in the evening session dedicated to #WFOYoung. He highlighted YPARD's commitment to amplifying youth voices in decision-making processes from local to global levels 🌍🚜 , and in advocating for a balance between food production and agroecology conservation, promoting sustainable and eco-friendly practices 🍀 . Recognizing the value of local communities and indigenous wisdom, he spoke about how YPARD empowers youth to adopt agroecology, integrating traditional knowledge with innovative solutions. 🔔 The SB60 in Bonn has come to a close—here are some of our key reflections. 👇 A major breakthrough for the Sharm el-Sheikh Joint Work on Agriculture and Food Security (SSJW) was achieved at SB60 after 18 months of negotiations. 🙌 This comprehensive work plan marks a pivotal step in integrating climate action with agricultural and food security initiatives under the UNFCCC framework. Highlights of the workplan include: ◾ Two hybrid workshops planned for 2025 and 2026 ◾ Annual synthesis reports and an operational online portal for best practices 🌾 Additionally, the Action on Food Hub was launched, uniting the Food Systems, Food4Climate, and Future Economy Forum Pavilions into one cohesive space for COP29, promoting inclusive dialogue and sustainable food systems. YPARD participated in the SB60 with the aim of highlighting the critical role of youth in shaping agriculture and climate policy. We closely followed the SSJW negotiations, joined the FAST Partnership Board and members meeting, spoke at a side event organized by WWF and Biovision Foundation, participated in the YOUNGO Food and Agriculture working group briefings, and connected with different parties and organizations present at the conference.
